Their son, Adam, is attending kindergarten and Chung will be Ordained in August. Donna invited the membership to a picnic at their farm to enjoy the Roses and swimming pool on July 13. A pot-luck dinner at 12:30 p.m. Please bring your own dishes. The "Bob the Beaver" award was won by Blaikie Rowsell for the Central Area of W.l. The 1997 West Durham District Annual report was given by Margaret Ford, also a print-out for each member. Cindy Ashton secretary- treasurer explained details of W.l. investment renewal. The Solina Community Day volunteers volunteers are Jean Taylor - Ida Bray - Barbara Kapteyn - Dorothy . Snowden. Our W.L Branch will send a Christmas gift along with the sponsorship of our adopted child "Vanessa" in South America. A visit to the Ecology ' Gardens at Bowmanville High School will hopefully be arranged with A1 Vaillancourt. Members are reminded of a bake sale on August 23, in the park at the Ladies Softball Tournament. A Committee to look after Orono Fair display are Jean Taylor, Barbara Kapteyn and Elaine Baker. There are tickets available for Central Area Draw to bé at- the Area Convention in October. An interesting Roll Call of "I remember the tree " brought back a lot of memories even some trees of shoes have appeared lately. The program was by the Village Group with Loraine Knox presiding. June being - Grandmother's month, there were 3 great grandmother's who received dainty corsages, Elaine Baker, Bernice Hoag, and Jessie Tink. Jean Taylor received one for the most recent grandmother. Motto was "Trees are a link to the past and a bridge to the future" and was capably commented commented on by Bernice Watson saying take care of the trees - only God can make a tree. Lois Yellowlees introduced the speaker Mrs. Joan Graham of Blackstock who has started a tree project over the last few years with Scugog Township. Trees should be replaced along roadways and around your property. Joan has found each year the number of trees planted planted has greatly increased, showing showing more people how necessary this project has become. The most popular trees to plant are Norway Maples, Sugar Maples and Lindens, these mature more quickly. Joan is willing to help organize such a project for people in their areas. Joyce Taylor on behalf of the members expressed thanks to Joan with a monetary token for an interesting and enlightening enlightening subject.
