The Box Office is now open 10:00 a.m. ' to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday with Flex Packs and Individual tickets still available. KST's 1997 season opens in July with the haunting musical fantasy Brigadoon, running July 1st to the 19th with 21 public performances.. Complete with whirling plaids and enchanting music, Brigadoon is the story of a Scottish town that goes to sleep, and awakens for a single day every hundred years. Written by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, (the authors who also brought us My Fair Lady) Brigadoon has colour, charm and romance, and is sure to please both tourists and residents residents alike. Running July 23 - August 2, KST's 2nd production is Neil Simon's door-slamming farce Rumors. Four couples arrive at the home of New York's deputy Mayor to help celebrate his 10th anniversary. But the party never begins, and we find ourselves ourselves in the middle of rib : ticiding hilarity. In August (5-16), KST is proud to present Nine Months, a one woman comedy about the roller coaster ride of child birth. Written by Carl Ritchie (an alumnus of KST), Elise Dewsbury leads us through the lives of three pregnant women and the story will surely hit home to anyone who has ever been a Mother - or ever had one! Closing the season, the Anthony Schaffer murder mystery Sleuth graces the Academy stage August 20-30. In a cosy English country house, two men become locked in a mortal encounter as the games people play take on every bizarre twist and turn imaginable. (MOW PLAYING! jfl Canada Day Celebration Planned for Cullen Gardens You are invited to celebrate Canada Day at 'Cullen Gardens and Miniature Village in Whitby. This special day will be the official opening of an exact 1/12 scale replica of Parkwood Estates, the home of the late Colonel and Mrs. R. S. McLaughlin. The unveiling will take place at 2 p.m. in the gardens. Other events include: * Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada - to set up a day camp and dress in period costume and go about their daily routine of living in a military camp. Cooking over an open fire. Battle enhancements will be performed at 12 noon and 4 p.m. at the Special Events Centre. * An Antique Buggy Display - approximately 15 beautifully restored' buggies from the private collection of Laurie McCullough. These buggies will be on display at the Special Events Centre. Wagon rides will be running from the Valley playground to the Special Events Centre from 12 noon to 8 p.m. * Entertainment - A Touch of Hawaii - An exciting mix of traditional traditional dances, and their fascinating origins. Recorded music done in English and Hawaiian. Aspects of the Polynesian culture originating from New Zealand and Tahiti are incorporated into the show. Beautifully coloured traditional costumes worn by all performers. Traditional instruments such as the "Puili" sticks, and "Ili Ilis" as well as "Poi Balls" are used throughout the performance. Shows are designed by Hawaiian-born Ohulani. Showtimes: 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Performances held in the Valley Theatre. There will be a fireworks display at dark. n Ontario County Kennel Club Holds Show in Orono Although some might mistake him for an English sheepdog, the dog shown here is actually a bearded collie. "Harrison" is pictured with Bea Swaka, who is getting him ready for the show ring. There were about 700 dogs of all breeds at the big show on the Orono Fairgrounds June 12 to 15. The exhibition was sponsored by the Ontario County Kennel Club. It brought together dog exhibitors, breeders, dog-related businesses and services, professional dog handlers, and canine' enthusiasts in general. The event included a display by the police canine unit, events for juniors and testing for the canine "Good Citizen Program." Visitors from as far away as Quebec and the U.S. were among those in attendance. attendance. Coffee-Loving Volunteers Needed For Memorial Hospital Kiosk Why not spend a few hours this summer helping out Memorial Hospital's coffee kiosk, Perk Central. Volunteers are needed to help staff this busy spot. This is an ideal opportunity for students and anyone who wants to enhance their skills. If you enjoy meeting the public and have a few hours a week to spare, the Hospital would like to hear from yoti. Volunteers can choose amongst a variety of two-and- a-half and three-hour shifts starling at 6:30 a.m. and ending ending at 6 p.m. No experience is necessary, training is provided. Perk Central is operated by the Hospital Auxiliary and all proceeds go to the Auxiliary which assists in purchasing equipment for the Hospital.
