B Conservation Tips From Consumers Gas Every day, the average Canadian uses an astonishing 350 litres of water-just indoors! Household water usage increases by up to 50 per cent when summer rolls around and it's time to water the lawn, wash the car, and fill the swimming pool. "Seventy-five per cent of the Earth's surface is covered in water. But less than two per cent of it is fresh water we can actually use," says Randall Lee, Residential Manager of Demand Side Management Programs at Consumers Gas. "It makes perfect sense to start thinking about how you can use water more wisely when you appreciate how little fresh water there is on our planet." "Conserving water and cutting down on waste doesn't have to cramp your lifestyle. There arc a variety of measures homeowners can lake to reduce water consumption and make a positive contribution to the environment," says Mr. Lee. Consumers Gas, which serves 1.3 million customers in Ontario, offers these great ideas for saving water, both inside and outside the home. Luscious Green Gardens Canadians love their gardens!
