The Claringlon/Courtice Independent, Bowmanville, Saturday, June 28, 1997 Sonbon Homes Midget Orioles Crush Kendal by Score of 20-9 by Chris Rourke Staff Writer The Clarington Sonbon Home Midget Orioles woke up after an extra inning loss to Pickering to crush Kendal. On Saturday, June 21, the midget Orioles lost 4-2 in 10 innings at Soper Creek Park. One day later, on Sunday, June 28, they played host to their arch-rival, the Kendal Royals. The Orioles crushed Kendal 20-9 in a game that saw the teams combine for five home runs. Kendal jumped out on Orioles starter Steve Dao for a 3-0 lead after half an inning. The Orioles scored two in the bottom of the first on John Line and Darren Kok RBI singles. The Royals extended their lead to 4-2 after their half of the second, but Clarington scored six in the bottom of the second on the strength of Ryan Wood's three-run home- run and John Line's two-run homer.
