Toastmasters Host Spelling Bee at Orono Fair Bowmanville Toastmasters opened the fall season with a double double header at The Durham Central Fair. Once again we had a display under the direction of Toastmaster Sherrcll Lcetoozc. As well .Toastmasters conducted the annual spelling bee Friday evening at the fair. Our Minister of Education has few worries about the spelling prowess of local youth. Judges were Toastmasters Irene Konzelmann and Carol Wonnacott ably assisted by special special guest Fran Lunn. The contest was chaired by Toastmaster Connie Nelson who was delighted with the enthusiasm enthusiasm of the participants. Come to sec a regular Toastmaster meeting any Tuesday and our special contest on September 23, 1997. All meetings meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. at "The Information Centre at Darlington Hydro". Child Abuse Prevention Gels Support from Wl The Community Abuse Program of Rural Ontario (CAPRO) is a new and unique program that encourages community ownership and responsibility responsibility for social issues, through partnerships of rural members. The partnerships include the Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario, the Ontario Farm Women's Network, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, the Trillium Foundation, Education Wife Assault, and representatives representatives of the University of Guelph, the Department of Justice and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Several initiatives have already taken place across the province.
