Preparing lunches is a good way to emphasize "life skills", such as responsibility, good nutrition nutrition and shopping habits, planning ahead, and a good work ethic. This year, every student is expected to stay at school for the lunch hour which occurs daily from 11:21 a.ni. to 12:18 p.m. As well as eating lunch during that time, the school building building and yard arc supervised and, throughout the year, activities such as house league, Student Council, interest clubs, choir, sock hops and "extra help" will be.available for students. Some members of the school staff, working with students, arc planning to prepare hot lunches for sale on a cost-recovery basis in the Family Studies Room. Currently, plans arc also in the works to invite the local food merchants to sell pizza, chicken, burgers and subs on site. School policy regarding "leaving the school" will continue to be in place. These procedures afe being adapted at Bowmanvillc Senior Public School this year in an effort to improve over-all community community relations with our local neighbours and the merchants in the downtown area. Over the past few years, there has been a growing concern about young people and their relationship, as well as their responsibility, to the community community in which they live. This is part of an overall strategy that will be developed developed throughout the year with input from Student Council, School Council, the staff, students and parents parents at Bowmanvillc Senior Public School. Some of the other proposals currently being considered arc "Adopt-a-Park", "Mcals- on-Whccls for Seniors and Shut-ins", Co-op Grade 7 and 8 Student Placements at our three feeder schools - Central Public, Vincent Massey and Lord Elgin. Projects like these emphasize emphasize that being a good citizen citizen is important. Contributing to your community community in a positive way is LARRY JACK! You've had 50 years to look old ... and you still haven't got it right! admirable, of increasing necessity, and an expectation. expectation. What we do affects others. Young people need to realize this. They are capable of doing many tilings for themselves and can help out in many areas of endeavour at home, at school, and in the community community at large. If you have any ideas that you believe should be talked about, kindly write out a brief proposal, or summary, and send it in to the school. All ideas will be looked at. I believe Albert Einstein iras correct when he stilted, "We are not going to solve today's problems problems with the same kind of thinking that got us into them. " Part of the purpose of school is to help develop responsible future citizens. As they mature, the life skills our young people learn will become very important. Communities that work together, continue continue to grow and develop into better places in which to live and raise families. Bowmanvillc is a terrific community. Let us all work together to maintain the spirit and integrity everyone everyone expects. Helping each other will make it happen. Your continuing support is appreciated.
