The next game, against Bolton, was played - in a shouldcr-to- shoulder-likc fashion for ball possession. The Reactors, however, defeated the aggressive team 2-0 with both goals scored by centre- forward Caoimhc O'Donnell with assists from mid-fielder Ashley Siciliano. The solid goaltending by Miki Orme, combined with an impenetrable impenetrable defensive line, kept the unhappy Bolton team off the scoreboard. The next game pitted the Darlington girls against Aurora on a slippery surface. The Reactors appeared flustered in the first 10 minutes of the game, having been caught llat-footcd on some dangerous dangerous plays, but managed to turn the game around in their favour and carried the game to a 2-0 win. The Reactors' scoring machine, Caoimhc O'Donnell, popped in both goals with terrific support from mid-fielder Monika Janssen and winger Melissa McCarthy. This second win enabled the Darlington girls to advance to the final round against their nemesis: Pickering. The final game delivered loads of excitement excitement and tension with both teams playing defensively in the first half. Darlington missed a couple of goal- scoring opportunities but managed to keep Pickering scoreless as well. The second second half brought a more determined Pickering team onto the field who managed to slide in two goals. Darlington remained strong with solid defensive skills demonstrated by Sarah Little and Katie Gcrrils. The final whistle brought the 2-0 game and tournament to a close. This tournament fell closely on the heels of the Reactors' exciting final league game win over the Peterborough Pythons, the top premier team in the U- 13 age bracket, within the Ontario Soccer Association. The Reactors were one of two teams to rock Peterborough's solid founda tion during the season and their victorious 1-0 win boosted their self-confidence and propelled them to their finalist status in the Belleville tournament on Labour Day weekend.
