Welcome to the Country and Septic Tank Systems People who live in towns and ciliés don't often think about what happens to household household waste water after they run their washing machines, flush their toilets or pull the plugs in their sinks. Once it's entered the sanitary sewer in the street, waste water is the municipality's municipality's problem. In more rural areas, most homeowners are not connected to municipal services. They provide their own waste disposal, disposal, using a septic tank system. The septic tank system depends on nature's own waste treatment processes: gravity separates solids and liquids; bacteria breaks down biodegradable biodegradable materials; sandy soils filter the water by absorbing contaminants, harmful bacteria and impurities. Grass roots absorb liquid, using nutrients and giving off water. It is like a small underground ecosystem. Like any ecosystem it has its limits. If it gets clogged up because of misuse or poor maintenance, a septic system can present problems. BUT A PROPERLY INSTALLED AND MAINTAINED SYSTEM WILL OPERATE EFFECTIVELY FOR A VERY LONG TIME. To help alleviate your doubts when purchasing a "country" home, make sure that your Offer to Purchase contains a Septic System Warranty clause. Check with your Realtor for further details. Your comments and questions questions are always of interest to me and I welcome the opportunity opportunity to answer them. ej p Ellie Kinnear Sales Representative sutton group-excel realty inc. 600 Grandview St. S., Unit «0, Oshawa, Ontario Steve Lawrence Sales Representative NEWCASTLE BUNGALOW Very spacious 3 bedroom home on large lot. family sized rooms.
