Everyone is invited to join the Clarington Animal Advisory Committee for a great family day of fun while supporting your community animal shelter. Bowmanvillc Zoo is Canada's oldest privately owned zoo and features a picturesque 42-acre parklike setting. The Bowmanvillc Zoo offers up close encounters with a large variety variety of animals from around the globe. Bowmanvillc Zoo will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Clarington Animal Advisory Committee will be hosting hosting this special day. There will be information on animal issues, the services which the Clarington Animal Shelter oilers, and architectural drawings for the new facility will be available for viewing. Bowmanvillc Zoo will be donating all oi the day's admission proceeds to the Clarington Animal Shelter. The donation is to be applied to the purchase ol a Combo Ultrasound Unit which assists and promotes the healing process, reduces pain and rc-trains muscles. It is used in the treatment of low back pain, ankle sprains, knee replacement replacement and retraining weak muscles after surgery. It's beginning to look like fall - a few trees have some colour on them. Oshawa Hospital had a lob ball tournament at the park on Saturday. Bill Harris, also called on Harvey this week for a visit. Harry and Loraine Knox attended a birthday party for Mrs. Farrow (Eileen Knox's mother) on Saturday afternoon. She was 92. Eileen's sister Lorraine Lapliam and her husband Dave from Mindcn visited with her and attended the party also. Ole and Marg (Stacey) Gunvald of Victoria 13.C. have been spending a few days with Ross and Marjorie Crydcrmnn. Guests with Wes and Doris Hills were Mr. and Mrs. Ken Knight from Western Ontario. Ken was a classmate classmate of Wes' at Kcmptvillc. The road by our house is not so crowded at bus time this fall. Many have moved on to university or college. Aaron Pudlis is in Waterloo; Jamie Huckabonc in Carlcton, Ottawa; Sara Langley at Lakchcad; Jane Robbins at St. Lawrence College, Brockvillc; Miranda Ketcla, Durham College; John Ashton at Seneca College. Our grandchildren Tim Ashton and Nancy Metcalf are at University of Guelph, where Michael Metcalf is starting his 3rd year. Good luck to all of them in their chosen careers. The rural bowling started started last week with five teams in the league - Solina, Hampton, Hi C's, Courtice and Newtonshaw. Solina took 4 points, Hampton 4 and Newtonshaw 4.
