His tribute to Elvis was a real hit with the audience. The day's musical line-up also included the Bowmanville Oldc Tyme Fiddle Club, Grandpa Norton's Blucgrass Band, the Blue Steel Band, and special performances by fiddle player Mark Sullivan, recording artist Gary Hooper, and Tom Sawyer, Marie Knight and Kris Hopson. Councillors to Discuss Greater Toronto Services Board Over a dozen letters about Clarington's role in the Greater Toronto Area will be considered at the next meeting of Clarington's general purpose purpose and administration committee. The letters discuss the Greater Toronto Services Board and other matters related to local government government restructuring. All will be reviewed when the committee meets Monday, September 22. Last Monday night, Sept. 15, Councillor Mary Novak asked that the correspondence be referred to the upcoming meeting for further action. She explained that a report examining the issue would be coming to the committee meeting.. Some of the pieces of correspondence came from Hazel McCallion, the Mayor of Mississauga and Alan Tonks, the Chair of Metro Toronto. Boyfriend Charged In Oshawa Murder The boyfriend of an Oshawa woman found bludgeoned bludgeoned to death in her Nonquon Road apartment on Sunday, September 14, has been arrested and charged with her murder. James Kcrnahan, age 40, was arrested at the Brock Street Mission in Peterborough on September 16. He is charged with second degree murder in the killing of his girlfriend, Karrie .Dulmage, age 33, and was due to appear in Oshawa Provincial Court on Tuesday. Canadian funny man Don Harron is hosting the Oshawa/Clarington Chamber of Commerce's Second Annual Business Awards Gala at the Lviv Hall on Friday, September 26th, 1997. As an actor, writer, broadcaster, comic and producer, Don has been involved in almost every facet of television from starring starring in serious dramas to writing comic series. He has appeared in many major television television series including "Twelve O'clock High", "The Outer Limits", "Dr. Kildare", "Mission Impossible", and "The Fugitive". Although Don has usually been cast in dramatic roles, he has made many people laugh with his alter ego characters - especially especially "Charlie Farquharson"; a character he first introduced to Canadians in 1952 at the "Spring Thaw Revue" and later in the long-running TV series "Hee Haw". Don is also recognized as an accomplished accomplished actor on stage. He has worked with many of the great names in theatre including: Katherine Hepburn, Christopher Plummer, Tyrone Power and Sir Alec Guinness. Don is probably best known to Canadians as the popular host of the CBC radio series "Momingside". In his capacity as a writer, one of his proudest achievements is a 90 minute musical which he wrote from the children's children's novel "Anne of Green Gables" that is in its 33rd season and has won rave revues in London, New York, Japan and Sweden as well as every major centre in Canada.
