The money was raised at a golf tournament at the Newcastle Golf Course earlier in the summer that attracted over 100 participants. Paul Shcherbak (right) is presenting the cheque to Clarington Fire Chief Mike Creighton on behalf of the firelighters. The Hinchcy family - Brad, Laura, Shawn, Dustin and Benjamin were greeters and Marion Luke the lay reader. The choir and organist Betty Munro provided the music. Wesley Hills gave the Presbytery report. Mr. Lome MacBurnic from the Gideon Bible Society was guest speaker. He gave all the Sunday School pupils a New Testament and told of the Ministry of the Gideons to the adults. September 29lh will be a joint Session meeting at Hampton at 7:30 p.m. October 6 the U.C.W. will have their annual auction at 7:00 p.m. at the church. They welcome any donations. donations. Solina Silver Set (Seniors) held their meeting meeting on September I7lh at 12:00 noon for a pot-luck dinner. President Wes Hills welcomed everyone and asked Reverend Doug Warren to ask the blessing. Everyone did justice to the food. After dinner Warren Forrester introduced the speaker Doug Stephenson. He spoke on driver training training for seniors, the 55 Alive program that he teaches. The members hope to have this program at Solina in (lie future. Jessie Tink thanked Mr. Stephenson on behalf of the group. About 50 attended. A business period followed. followed. Here, Lisa Parrott and Sara Coles get acquainted with some of the friendly donkeys at the Skinner Farm near Tyrone. The farm was among 38 stops on a tour where countryside adventurers could learn about everything everything from growing pumpkins and flower-arranging to milking cows, making furniture furniture or sawing logs.
