UCW Presents Concert Friday, October 3 by Betty Wright Do you enjoy good music? Friday, October 3, at 7:30 p.m. join us up at the Enniskillen Public School for a concert by the Country Four and The Wilmot Creek Entertainers. Tickets arc available from the Enniskillen U.C.W. or at the door. It's time to "Take A Break" on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Enniskillen Church. Who comes? Moms and little children, children, folks from the community. We talk, we laugh and a card game could break out at any moment. Drop by and join us sometime. The Sunday School held the first of what we are hoping to be one of many "Bring A Friend" Sundays. Attendance was great and we were especially delighted to have with us Rosie the Clown, a local Christian entertainer the children know and love. We were entertained with songs, magic tricks and balloons. A great time was had by all. Many thanks and warm wishes go out to Rosie. If the church can be of service or support to you or anyone you know, please do not hesitate to call Reverend Seli (please call him Norman). He is available for a great variety of pastoral needs. Norman is around the pastoral charge all week and can be found at Enniskillen United Church on Tuesdays and Tyrone United Church Wednesday afternoons and evenings. Call the church office or just drop in. You'll always be welcome. Afternoon Bible study is held on Tuesdays at Enniskillen Church. The new season started Tuesday, September 30th. Newcomers arc always welcome and it works even if you only come once in awhile. This week, the group was going to decide what they will be studying this fall. On Saturday Katie Hicks had her friends in for a birthday parly celebrating " her 5th birthday. Happy birthday, Katie, whose birthday was on September 28th. Mrs. Murray Axford, Hampton, Stephanie Axford and friend Lisa from Toronto were Sunday callers at the Edgar Wright's. On Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. John Avery and family and Mr. and Mrs. A1 Sharpe and family sponsored sponsored a hay ride and bonfire with hot chocolate and roasting roasting marshmallows for the Enniskillen Youth Group- at the Avery farm. Mrs. Lcn Stainton accompanied accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stainton to the 65th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Stainton at a buffet supper at the Dutch Oven, enjoyed by about 40 members of their family. Reception was held afterwards at the home of their granddaughter, granddaughter, Suzanne. BHS Quartet Plays for United Way Kick-Off Members of the Krelniko Quartet- from Bowmanvillc High School provided provided luncheon music at the Bowmanvillc' Town Hall Friday, September 19th, dur-: ing the kick-off to the municipal employ-; ecs' United Way drive. The students, played while municipal staff served ham-; burgers, hot dogs and all the trimmings- to fellow-employees and passers-by. Members of the group include: Elizabeth' Jamischak, Colleen O'Reilly, Nicole; Simpson and Cristina Sousa. Happenings in Solina by Harvey Yellowlees Kind words never wear out the tongue. How well you like hard work often depends on whether you are doing it or paying for it. There was another lob ball tournament at the park this weekend. The players were from Oshawa. There was another fun card party at Hampton on Wednesday night with winners as follows: high - Charles Langmaid, Meta Swain, Verna Robinson, Pauline Raymond and Garnet Goyne. Low - Art Compton. Most Lohe Hands - Pauline Raymond. Special No. - Ambrose O'Halloran. Draws - Ruby Trewin, Barbara Cochrane, Win Brown, Charles Langmaid. Come again this week. The card parties at Solina Hall will be starting on Friday evening October 3 at 8:00 p.m. Anyone welcome. See you there! A lovely day for church service on Sunday. Several visitors were present for the baptism of Carter Donavan son of Erich and Karen Kolarek. Erich and Karen were also received into membership membership by profession of faith. The children's story was about Esther and Reverend Munro's sermon was Choose Life - For a Change. Come out some Sunday and enjoy the service. October 5 is World Wide Communion and October 6 is the U.C.W. auction at 7:00 p.m. at the church. For supper with Harvey and Lois Yellowlees on Sunday were Karen Yellowlees, Christine and Jennifer. Also Sara Metcalf and friend, Marjorie Mclsaac had a yard sale Saturday and Sunday. Fred and Bernice Watson had one of their four-legged grandchildren with them for a few days, a dog. The farmers are busy harvesting beans. Still no bowling bowling reports?? Bully-Proofing Workshops Counsellors with The Northumberland- Clarington Board of Education are offering teachers and principals a unique set of workshops this fall to help them deal with school bullies. "Schools have identified identified bullying as an issue", says Janis Leone, the board counsellors' team leader. "It's the first time we've trained people specifically for this". The series of three "bully proofing" workshops workshops which will be repeated in different areas of the board will outline ways participants can intervene in situations at their schools, and give tips on dealing with bullies and ways of getting parents involved. The workshops arc a continuation of the school board's safe schools' policy. policy.
