St. John's News The 1997 "edition" of St. John's Bird Night and Auction is now history and very pleasant history indeed! In the church before the Auction, a very appreciative audience watched a fascinating fascinating show of Ken Carmichael's slides depicting the Birds of Scugog. Ken's commentary on his slides was, as always, full of humour, anecdotes and explanations explanations of "his birds"...indeed, many of the photographs were taken on his own property on the East quarter line! Following Ken's slides, the audience moved into the Parish Hall for more fun and entertainment as Harvey Graham took the floor to sell by auction more than 120 items which had been donated donated by parishioners, friends and businesses. Harvey's special special abilities in motivating people were really evident, as was his wonderful sense of humour, and the audience responded well. It takes a lot of time, and hard work, to auction off that number of items but nobody seemed to find that things were dragging. dragging. By about 10:30 p,m„ everything had been sold. The final "tally" was not available at press time but we arc reliably reliably informed that the church building fund will get a nice boost as a result of the Auction. The folks at St, John's would like to express their thanks to all who made this cvcal a success, We thank, especially, Ken Carmichael and Harvey Graham who have been so much more than the "High Profile" persons. s*,» WMM /igV/ cornerstone realty ltd., realtor * 623-6000 3 MONTHS MORTGAGE 'Some conditions apply. 104 King St. E„ Bowmanville EXCELLENT START IBk: 4 bedroom aluminum sided home in quiet neighbourhood.
