Many concerns were brought forward, forward, Wednesday visitors with Jack and Hazel Crago were Sandra and Harley Sherman, Beeton, Maurice Coulter, Downsvicw, Dale Rudge Lundy and baby Jessica, of Scarborough, helping Hazel celebrate her birthday. While in Toronto, Albert also visited granddaughter Viki Pearce and John Tzountzouris. Mr. Harold Powell, Oak Park, Illinois, spent the past week with his parents, Stan and Kay Powell. On Tuesday, Stan, Kay and Harold visited with Glenda and Brian Rumbles, Norwood, Wednesday visitors with the Powells were Tracy and Evelyn • Embley, Fenelon Falls. On Wednesday evening, Stan, Kay, Harold and Judy Powell, of Oshawa, had dinner dinner with Beth and Wayne Markle, Oshawa. On Thursday the Powells visited with Grace Shetler and Wendy, Oshawa, also Kay Ormiston and Bea Clarke, Bowmanville. On Friday, Russell Hunt of Pontypool, spent his P.A. day with Stan and Kay and uncle Harold. On Sunday Stan, Kay, Harold, Judy and Lynn, Oshawa, Dale Hunt, Russell and Grayden, Pontypool, Beth and Wayne Markle, Scarborough, had dinner at the home of Rob and Alyssa Hewson, Ajax, prior to Harold returning home. On Friday evening, Jack and Gloria Gordon, Jack and Hazel Crago were among the crowd who enjoyed the Gaelic Concert at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Port Hope. The Gaelic Choir from Cape Breton provided great entertainment. Violin selections by champion fiddler, fiddler, Carl McKenzie, English songs by Donnie Campbell, and stepdancing by Anne Marie Barrie added to the entertainment. A free Seniors' Christmas dinner will be held at Newcastle Public School on Wednesday, December 17th, compliments compliments of staff, students and parents of NPS. Sympathy is extended to family and friends of Dorothy (Foster) Cuffc whose funeral services were held at Newcastle Funeral Home on Monday, October 6th. Holy Communion was celebrated at both services at St. George's Anglican Church on Sunday, October 5th, with both the Reverend Cliff Evans and the Reverend Oakley Peters. Flowers at the altar were from the October 4th wedding wedding of Leannc Gibson and Dcryk Clark. Thanksgiving donations for the food bank on October 8th would be greatly greatly appreciated. ACW are meeting October 23rd at 7:30 p.m. with Carl Good speaker. This is an open meeting. United Church World Wide Communion Sunday, October 5th Holy Communion was celebrated at Newcastle United Church. Reverend Donald Stiles was assisted by Reverend Doug Warren. Shirley Coyle announced the hospital visitor training course which begins October 14th for six weeks, Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $50. Pastoral Relations Committee Chair Charles Ewert announced that a candidate candidate had been found for Newcastle United Church. Tuesday, October 14 at 7:30 the Official Board meets. Thanksgiving Sunday is October 12, please bring donations for the Food Bank. On Thursday, October 2nd, the Trillium Unit of the UCW met at the home of Bill and Eileen Allin. The theme of the meeting was Thanksgiving.
