MEMORIAL RUN/WALK FOR CANCER SOCIETY -- The Craig Green Memorial 5 kilometre run or walk has been set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 18th, at the Visual Arts Centre in Bowmanvillc. The run is in memory of Craig Green, a popular Bowmanvillc teen who died two years ago after a lengthy battle against non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The run will serve as a fundraiser fundraiser for the Cancer Society and organizers hope it will become an annual event. Participants may register at the Bowmanvillc CIBC or call Tara Cooper at 623-7797. The October 18th event includes prizes donated by local businesses and a barbecue after the run. RABIES VACCINATION CLINIC -- The Toronto Academy of Veterinary Medicine will hold a low-cost Rabies Vaccination Clinic on Saturday, October 18, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Over 80 private veterinary hospitals throughput the Municipalities of Metro Toronto, Durham, Halton, Peel'and York will participate. Pets will be vaccinated against rabies for $10.00 each, including GST. In Clarington, the clinic will be held at the Courlice Pet Clinic, 1500 Hwy. 2. SMOKE-FREE HOME CONTEST: -- Visit the Durham Region Health Department display at the Bowmanvillc Apple Festival October 18 to pick up a Smoke-Free Home Kit and to enter the contest. DRAMA WORKSHOP TICKETS ON SALE OCT. 18TH --- Tickets to the Bowmanvillc Drama Workshop production of "Time Goes On" will be sold at the Bowmanvillc Apple Festival this Saturday, October 18th. It's an original musical play written and directed by Judy Bagshaw and Bill Ferguson. Production dates are November 26,27, 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. with a 3 p.m. matinee show on the 29th of November. TEEN BAND CONTEST AND DANCE -- This year, the Durham Central Fair supported a pilot youth project called Launch 97 - A Regional Teen Band Competition and Dance which unfortunately unfortunately got rained out. This event has been rescheduled to this Saturday night, (October 18) at 8 p.m.. Renamed "Rock 'n Barn," this event will unfold in the big barn in the centre of the fairgrounds in Orono. It promises to be a great community fall party for all- ages. It's hosted by the Soper Valley Model Railroad Club of Bowmanvillc, which is based at the Visual Arts Centre. MILLIONAIRES' NIGHT -- Bowmanvillc Legion Millionaires Night is Saturday, October 18. This is a fundraiser for the hospital. (They still have lots of tickets). The Committee expects to present its final report by December 1,1997.
