Unfortunately, the team suffered their first loss, with a final score of 3-1. Despite excellent goaltending goaltending by Mike Shrives, a lack of offensive power by Reynold's couldn't hold off the strong-skating Orono team. A fine effort of back checking by wingers Drew Passant and Nicolas Beck kept Orono's scoring to a minimum. Heavy hitting by Jesse Myschowada, John Carlton and Scott Lane kept Orono off balance. balance. Good defensive plays were made by Brent Dechene and Grant Knowlton. Nice passes were made by Neil Legree, Matt McCluskey, Jeff Reynolds and Bryan Villamere. Reynold's lone goal was beautifully scored by Ryan Hill, assisted by Nick Beck and Tyler Kohn. A good effort was made by all. And congrats to Reynold's player of the game, Mike Shrives. Holiday Inn Ends Hectic Stretch The Holiday Inn Major Bantam Toros played four games in a ten-day stretch in early October and were able to keep their heads above water and their record above the .500 mark. On October 8, they travelled to Barrie where they continued to show their early game sluggishness sluggishness and spent a good portion portion of the first two stanzas in the penalty box. The home squad built a 5-1 lead, and despite a valiant effort in the third period by the Toros, dealt the visitors a 6-3 loss. On October 10, Peterborough provided the opposition at the Darlington arena. The Toro squad continued to take unwarranted penalties and found themselves being outskated and outplayed outplayed by the hungry Peterborough Nationals. The Holiday Inn Toros undisciplined style resulted resulted in a 5-2 loss at the hands of the visitors. On Tuesday, October 14, the Toros hosted Ajax and got off to a better start. The Holiday Inn gang skated and hustled through a close three periods and came away with a 4-3 win. The next night the visiting visiting Markham Waxcrs provided provided the Toros with all they could handle. The game was penalty filled throughout and both teams played a good portion of the game shorthanded. The Toros led 2-0 after two but Markham closed the gap with an early third period goal only to have the Toro squad answer right back with one of their own. Markham scored another to make the final 3-2 Toros. Despite their insistence on playing with only four skaters a good portion of every game and continuously continuously testing the patience of the coaching staff, the Holiday Inn team's record is a respectable 4-2-1.
