The 9-and-10- year-olds went undefeated all year, playing over 20 games without a loss. Darlington Selects Enjoy Successful Summer The Darlington girls' select soccer team had a great summer. They appeared in seven tournaments, and played over 20 games throughout the summer. Square Boy Pizza Major Novice Toros Settle for Split in Last Four Games On Sunday, October 5, the Square , Boy Pizza Major Novice 'A* Toros travelled to their first away game in Keswick. Keswick's hard-working players outskated our Toros. The only two goals we got were by Chris Jukic in the second period, and by Chris Marchant who scored on a pass by Mike McLaughlin. Keswick won the game 8-2. The fourth game of the season, a home game, fared better for the Square Boy Pizza Toros. They met with Vaughn on Tuesday, October 7. Goalie Derek Carruthers started the game. Chris Marchant set up the goal that Ryan Cross notched in the first period. Vaughn scored in the second period at 4:52. Derek had stopped the puck but it became loose. Derek got injured in an attempt to stop the puck and Andre Fudge then played netminder. The second second period ended 1-1. Nearing the end of the third period, Jason Cadwcll was unstoppable on his breakaway to notch the Toros their second goal. With 12 seconds remaining in the game, Chris Jukic fired the puck between the goalie's legs to help the Toros win the game 3-1 over Vaughn. The boys were all hardworking hardworking in this game. On Friday, October 10, the Square Boy Pizza Toros played an exhibition game against a future league opponent, Ajax. Fudge started the game in net. In the first period, Steven Thomas made a shot on net that rebounded to Ryan Zavitz to open the scoring at 7:52. The Square Boy Pizza Toros dominated this game with determination. In the third period, Chris Marchant and Jeff Ward each scored a goal. Keeping the play in Ajax's end, the Toros gained a shutout for both goalies, Andrew Fudge Hi! My name is Toby! The Square Boy Pizza Major Novice 'A' Toros were visitors to Orillia on Saturday, October 11. The home team came out confident confident to win, notching two goals prior to the Toros scoring. Chris Marchant scored with help from Ryan Cross and Mike McLaughlin. Then Orillia came back with another goal in the first period and two in the second. Defensemen Ian Knox and Kyle Perry set up Chris Jukic at 10:16 in the third, before Orillia popped in another. The final score was Orillia 6-2 over Glaringlon.
