The plantings will help to create a vegetated buffer along the stream bank that will protect the creek from erosion and provide shade to reduce water temperatures temperatures and improve water quality. The plantings will also provide a corridor for wildlife to move between other natural areas and improve overall habitat. This project is part of the Second Marsh Watershed Stewardship Strategy aimed at protecting and improving the overall quality and health of the creeks that feed into Oshawa Second Marsh, namely Harmony Creek, Farewell Creek and Black Creek. Second Marsh is a Provincially Significant Wetland located on the shore of Lake Ontario in south-east Oshawa. Individuals, groups and families are welcome.
