In 1969, Trimble helped the Peewce Toros capture the All-Ontario 'A' Championship. Even though his Alberta squad went 0-3 in the tournament, he was proud of his players. "They could've been blown out with all the distractions, distractions, but they played well," Trimble said. "They stayed focused on hockey and played with a lot of sportsmanship." In their opener, they lost 3-2 to Oshawa. In their second game against Hillcrcst, they were tied 1- 1 after the first, but trailed 7-2 after the second. They lost the game 8-3. In their final round- robin game, they lost 2-1 to the Clarington Toros. The team had to start fundraising last June in order to fly here. They held bottle drives, bingos with the Legion and Kinsmen Club, and they were given the concession booth at last summer's University of Alberta hockey school to help raise the money. Kohn picked up two goals in a 3-2 win over Oshawa, while Chad Dickens and Andrew Laton both scored in a 2-1 win over Lac La Biche, Alberta. The Ted Reeve Thunder (Toronto), who clobbered Whitby 6-2 in the semifinals, semifinals, beat Peterborough 4-1 to capture the 1997 Clintar Midget Classic championship. The Clarington Toros held their annual Midget Classic Tournament last weekend. In the semi-final game pictured above, the Toros lost a heart-breaker in triple overtime to Peterborough by a score of 5-4. Sixteen teams competed in the three-day tourney, including one from Lac La Biche, Alberta. In the championship final game, Ted Reeve (Toronto) defeated Peterborough.
