Clarington's Devon Potter opened the scoring in the first period. Early in the second period, Vaughan tied the game. Five minutes later, Clarington's Jordon Wilson set up Kyle Myschowoda who scored to regain the lead. In the third period John DcMillc and Adam Shetlcr each scored to give the Toros a 4-1 lead. Vaughan came back with a power play goal late in the third, but Clarington held on to take a 4-2 victory. Stewart's Frozen Foods Posts 1-0 Shutout The Clarington Atom #2 girls, sponsored by Stewart's Frozen Foods, scored the only goal of the game within the first minute of play against the Optimist Clarington Atom #1 team. The goal was scored by Jencllc Farrow assisted by Jana Crydcrman and Tara Slcmon. Kiersten Allore and Ashley Gcndron showed off some fancy defensive footwork throughout the game. As well, Ashley Gillbank and Ashley Parks were an exceptional defensive team. Danielle Jordan received the only penalty of the game. Ashlce Beattie made a great save in the last minute of play as the other team tried to sneak the puck in. Final score was 1-0 for Clarington Atom #2. The next day the Toros met Whitby at Iroquois Park. After two periods, Clarington was behind 3-0. Early in the third period the Toros' Kyle Myschowoda and Jeff Perron set up Adam Hobb for Clarington's first goal. Four minutes later, Jeff Perron set up Adam Hobb for his second goal of the game and the Toros had drawn to within one goal of Whitby. Fifty seconds after that, the score was tied, as John DcMillc scored from Tyler Castellan and Kevin Connelly. Fourteen seconds later, Matt Savoie came from behind the Whitby net to slide in the go ahead goal. The Toros staved off two power plays later in the period to maintain the lead and take the come from behind victory. On Sunday, December 7, the Toros met the Ajax Knights at Oshawa Ice Sports for their third game of the weekend. The Knights scored the first goal 20 seconds into the game, but that was all that goal- tender's Stephen Trudeau and Kevin Kirkwood would allow. At 1:42 of the first period, Kyle Brown scored to lie the game. Early in the second period, Adam Shctler set up Adam O'Connell for the go ahead goal. Still in the second period, John DcMillc scored, followed by Tyler Castellan on a pass from Adam Shetlcr. In the third period, John DcMillc scored his second from Tyler Castellan and Brock Dcighlon. Then, Adam O'Connell scored on a set up from Devon Potter and Matt Hobbs, giving the Clarington Major A Toros their third league win in a row. The team will be competing competing in the Cobourg Tournament on Dec. 13/14. McPherson Optometrist Drops Close 5-2 Decision to Corleys On Thursday, December 4. The K. McPherson Optometrist team played against Corkys. In the first period, the McPherson team came on strong with two goals. The first goal was scored by Michelle Hodgson. The second goal was scored by Amanda Miljanovski. During the second and third periods, although McPhersons had control of the puck most of the time, Corkys were able to score five goals and won the game 5-2. On Saturday, December 6, the girls played T.P.A. After a loss on Thursday, K. McPherson's were more determined than ever to get a win. In the first period, Rosemary Quinlan gave McPherson's the one and only goal of the period. In the third period, the T.P.A. team was able to score one goal ending the game in a 1-1 tic. Strong efforts by McPherson's players include: Kristen Robinson, Michelle Jordan, Jenna Law, Carly Nemisz, Courtney Hamilton, Michelle Hodgson, Melissa Campbell, Candice Jordan, Chantcl Krukkert, Lesley Sinopoli, Colleen Bathe and Ashleigh Evelyn. The girls played well with scoring going to Kristen Ryan assisted assisted by Carrie Lebel and Linda Lazenby. The play of the game award goes to Simone Frcnctte with her tripping penalty. Final score showed a loss to Clarington. With another game played just five days later, it brought a much stronger Clarington team into Harman Park. 7-11 managed to get on the scoreboard scoreboard first on a goal by Lauren Crashlcy assisted nicely by Lisa Schultz. Oshawa's Cordova answered back less than a minute later. In the second period, Clarington went ahead on a pass from Carrie and Sarah Little to give Stephanie Wood her first goal of the season. Third period saw end-to-end action with Oshawa coming back again to tic, only to have 7-11 score in the dying minutes minutes of the period by Erin Haass assisted by Lauren. Great final score tied 3-3. With a few days rest the girls looked forward to a visit to our country's capital. Friday night, after a long drive, the girls played against a very physical team from Nepean. Game sheet showed us down one game with a loss of 4-0. Pretty good outing considering considering being outshot 30-6. Saturday, with the first game jitters out of the way and a bit more rested, the girls were ready for anything. Erin Haass made a beautiful deke around the goalie from hometown Gloucester to add a win for our side. Final score 1-0. Game three's only goal for 7-11 went to Erin, 'although the game could have gone either way. Final call was Alymer 3, Clarington 1. . After a hard working tournament the girls came back to Newcastle to host Oshawa Hardco. With the game dominated by 7-11 it was great to see the girls skate so well together. Sarah Little showed amazing deter mination with her first hat trick of the season, and Kristen Ryan added one for extra measure. Assists going to Lauren and Kristen. Final score, 7-11 4, Oshawa 1.
