Our community was shocked on Thursday morning morning to hear of the sudden death of a well known citizen, "Sparky" Ron White, who passed away suddenly at his home. Me was a well known and highly respected community community citizen. Thursday evening dinner guest of her grandparents the O. Challices, was Miss Jackie Sutherland, Bowmanville. On Tuesday, March 31st, a group of (8) energetic ladies gathered in lower C.E. auditorium auditorium to tie quilts. These busy ladies completed three quills for our upcoming "Spring Bazaar", May 2 in Orono United Church, by U.C.W. ladies. Congratulations to Great Grandma Mrs. Inez Harris on the arrival of a brand new great grandson, born to Greg and Kim Fulford in Clarkson. Town Hall euchre results - Reid Harness 91, Tom Simpson 84, Lavina Downes 82, May Tabb and Lil Bolderstone tied at 81. Low score - Flora Sharpe. Lucky draws - Velma Jakeman, Grace Coatham, Ruth Grady, Shirley Bubar, Lena Graham and Joan Sutcliffe. Orono United Church News Easter services - Maundy Thursday, April 9th Communion Supper and Service, 6:30 p.m. This is a service commemorating Jesus sharing the Last Supper with the disciples. We share a simple simple cold meal which begins with the breaking of bread and ends with the sharing of grape juice and washing of hands. The Supper is followed followed by a video. Good Friday, April 10th - Service 10 a.m. at Orono United Church. This service is shared with St. Saviour's Anglican Church. Mr. Gordon Leek from St. Saviour's will be the speaker. Sunrise Service Easter Sunday, April 12-7 a.m. at the Lang Chapel, Orono Cemetery. This is a short service service of approximately 40 minutes welcoming Christ's victory over sin and death. It is followed by coffee and hot cross buns. Kirby Easter Morning Breakfast, April 12, 8-9 a.m. hosted by the Kirby Sunday School. Kirby Spring : ; Supper: Hurry! Extra Social News Huge crowds attended Saturday night's Trinity United Church Talent Auction. Hall was packed and huge prices for all items, especially pies and homemade homemade breads! A happy family birthday party was held Sunday for Mrs. Mary Tamblyn on her 87lh. (actual date Tuesday, March 31st.) The Orono United Church enjoyed the regular services and beautiful Easter Lilies.
