Rural Bowling Standings for this week arc Solina 47 points; Hampton 46 points; Newtonshaw 34 points, Hi C's 23 points; Courticc 10 points. The 50/50 draw was won by Dave Davidson. Good luck next week men ! Hampton card party had 7 tables on Wednesday night. The winners were Barb Cochrane 84, Betty Kuycr 81, Fred Griffin 80, Fred Watson 77, Edna Manns 77. Sec you this week 8 p.m. at Hampton! Fred and Bernice The ladies met on the afternoon of April 8th at 1:15 p.m. It was great to have Elsie Roy back with us and her hip is mending very well. "Spring Renewal" for Oshawa Presbyterial will be held at Tyrone United Church on Wednesday, April 22nd at 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon. Our guest will speak of her personal experience dealing with AIDS. The book room will be open at 9:00 a.m. The executive will meet at 1 p.m. and if you plan to stay for this meeting, please bring a bag lunch. June 17th will be a "Day Apart" for the executive executive and it will be held at the home of Eileen Burgess. This will be a pot luck lunch. Betty Turcotte will be attending the International Event for closure of the Ecumenical Decade, which will be held in Harare, Africa, this fall. There will be a breakfast held for her at Ebenezer United Church on Saturday, May 9th at 9 a.m. Please call Bessie Vancyk for further details at 263-2060. Tickets arc $10.00 each. Our next meeting will beat 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13th. We will have a speaker on reflexology, massage therapy, therapy, or one of the other newer health alternatives available to us. All are welcome. 4-H Sheep Club Holds First Meeting The first meeting of the 1998 Durham East Sheep Club was held at the OMAFRA office in Port Perry on April 9. Our leaders one again arc Jim Coombcs and Jennifer Arbuckle who opened the meeting with a movie on housing and feeding. We then elected our club executives. President - Brad Found, Vice-President - Brad Woods, Secretary - Emily Metcalf and Press Reporter - Katharine Found. Our president, Brad Found, then led us in the reciting the 4-H pledge. Next, we chose the dates for future club meetings. There are six meetings plus our achievement day show planned for the summer. We decided to chose a project committee to make our exhibit for the fairs. With that decided, the meeting was adjourned anil we were treated treated 'to pop and donuts from Jim. Our next meeting will be May 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Stan and MaryAnn Found's farm in Courticc. There, we will be comparing housing and feeding feeding utilities. Ilv: Katharine Found Watson opened a "day care" centre this week. Walker was their first charge. Our son-in-law and daughter have a new member in their family. "Lucky" arrived on Wednesday afternoon. The card parly at Solina on Friday night had 11 1/2 tables, with very keen competition. Charles Langmaid came out on top with 91 points. Next Ross Crydcrman 89, Leona Wilson 84, Ruby Smith 79. Congratulations to Margaret and Philip Ford on celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary. Many from the community community have enjoyed trips to the sunny?? south and have returned home to the sunny north. Alan and Been Taylor of Duncan B.C. have been spending some time in Ontario and called on friends and relatives in the Solina area. We were glad- to have them with us for Sunday service at Eldad. Greeters were Barry and Evelyn Browcs, Lay reader was Sarah Connelly. The choir favoured with a lovely Easter anthem. Time with the children was about "doubting" Thomas. The adult message was "We have Seen the Lord". Next Sunday everyone will be busy with the salad supper. Both sittings at the time of writing arc sold out. Back to School Jane and Peter Sikma join their grand-daughter Kimberly, a Grade 4 student at Knox Christian School on Scugog St., Bowmanville. Friday, April 17, was Grandparents' Day at the school, and all the grandparents grandparents who put in an appearance were treated to classroom visits, a musical and a luncheon.
