Injury Bug Hurts Chances of Minor Peewees at OHF Finals by Brad Kelly Staff Writer The injury bug that has plagued the Minor Pccwce 'AA' Toros finally caught up with them at the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) championships held this past weekend in Elliot Lake. "I think we had the best team in the tournament. We just ran out of players," said coach Gary Ncmisz. Utilizing a shorthanded bench as the tournament progressed, Ncmisz led his Toros to a 2-2 record, falling just short of qualifying for the semi-finals. Tlte Toros finished fourth out of five teams. They opened with a 2-0 victory over West Mall of the Metro Toronto League, and a 6-5 victory over the hosts from Elliot Lake. But a 5-4 loss to Blind River, and a 3-1 setback to Bradford stopped the Toros from advancing. "We had nothing left in the tank," said Ncmisz of those final two games. "Our kids played great, worked hard, and were in every game." Ncmisz noted that fan support, a great sponsor, and his coaching staff contributed contributed to his team's success throughout the year. And the adversity the team had to face all year with players suffering serious injuries helped build an even stronger bond among the young skaters. "I'm really proud of those guys," he said in reference to the players. The Toros qualified for the OHF tournament tournament by defeating Brampton in the OMHA finals. It was the fifth time this group of players has won the Ontario championship. They also disposed of Barrie, Peterborough and Ajax along the way. At last year's OHF tournament, the same group won the silver medal. Triple F Bowling Scores and Results goal two minutes later, assists going to Tyler Castellan and Adam Hobb. Before the end of the game, Adam Hobb and Stephen Mills set up Kevin Connelly for Clarington's fourth goal. Clarington won the game by a 4-1 score, advancing them to the 'A' Championship finals. Cloaltcndcr Steven Trudeau was selected as the M.V.P. lor the Toros. Clarington met Cedar Hill again in the tournament finals on April 12.
