But in an effort to freshen up a house even more with paint and a paint brush, many people people are not quite sure where to begin. "There are many effective painting techniques and products that can be used to successfully revitalize a home and they don't necessarily necessarily require a lot of time or money," said Kevin Skclly of PARA Paints, a leading Canadian paint and coatings manufacturer. "For example, paint can be applied to much more than walls - with the latest paints on the market today, homeowners can achieve a new, refreshing look simply by painting cupboards, cupboards, railings, furniture and even floors." Whether you plan to repaint repaint your whole house - or simply parts if it - here arc some helpful hints: • Take time selecting colour. Paint colour is the key to creating a new look and reviving spirits. Review home, design and fashion magazines to keep updated on colour ideas and trends and choose the hue that best suits your room, furniture and personality. According to the Colour Marketing Group, the international colour forecaster, forecaster, this year's most popular popular choice is blue, no matter what the shade - ideal for bedrooms, living rooms and halls. Greens arc big for garden garden rooms, bathrooms and dens, bringing an 'outdoor' feeling indoors. Reds are strong for dining rooms and yellows are a popular spring colour for almost every room, including kitchens, kid's rooms, living rooms and dining rooms. • Preparation is key. Proper surface preparation and a good quality primer arc two of the secrets to a successful successful painting job, whether painting walls, trim or other areas, A good primer will allow for better adhesion of the lop coat of paint. There are a variety of primers available available today, for every type of surface, including mildew résistant primers, anti-rust and corrosion primers (perfect (perfect for railings and wrought- iron furniture) and super- adherent primers (for painting painting over previously enamelled enamelled or varnished surfaces).
