Reports Increases In Price of Land Farm Credit Corporation (FCC) market analysis indicates indicates Canadian farmland values values rose by an average of 2.3 per cent between July 1997 and January 1998. This continues continues the upward trend in farmland values but is significantly significantly smaller than the 5.6 percent increase recorded for the first six months of 1997. The research results, reported semi-annually by FCC, indicate that increases vary considerably from province to province, reflecting reflecting different factors in the agricultural economy. Quebec recorded the highest semi-annual increase in the country at 4.3 per cent, followed followed by Ontario and Nova iScotia at 4.1 per cent. Manitoba farmland values ■increased by 2.6 per cent, Alberta by 2.5 per cent. British Columbia saw an increase of 2.1 per cent and in Saskatchewan and New Brunswick farmland values rose by 1.5 per cent. Prince Edward Island experienced no change. Supply and demand factors in each province affected farmland values. Farm Credit Corporation appraisers appraisers in the local areas made the following observations concerning trends in Ontario: The increase in land values that began in southwestern Ontario continued to spread to contrai and eastern paris of the province.
