Known as Ray to his many friends and acquaintances, ■ he was born on a farm near Port Perry in December • 1919, to Olive (Davey) and -, Harold Goode. The family moved to Orono in 1927, he ; attended school there and , lived on Sommerville Road. He worked at the Orono Creamery for many years , and enjoyed his dealings -j with Hie farmers, picking up ' their cream and also deliv- 1 ering butter and eggs to -• many stores and business- j es in the area. In 1958, he bought and successfully operated operated a hardware business In the village of Newcastle and It was known as - "Goode's Hardware" for 24 ' years. He loved his work and made many friends and business business contacts before retiring retiring in 1981. Ray enjoyed travelling and . visited many places in the U.S., the Caribbean, Florida, a few times to California, to P.E. Island, to England and toured countries in Europe. He was a frequent visitor at the Antique Shows and was articulate al making stained glass pieces, having several in his home and gave some as gifts. Married to Mabel Clemence from the Shaw's School area for over 50 years, having a wonderful daughter, Susan, a great son-in-law, Michael Cawker and a Grandpa to his loved grandchildren, Jeffrey and Sara. Ray was a 40 year member of the Newcastle Lions Club, once President, and bnlil Ills death very active in community community projects. He was nominated to receive his 25 year Ontario Volunteer Service Service Award from the Ontario Government in May tills year. He once was active In Ihe Historical Society, the Chamber of Commerce and a Volunteer with the Clarington East Food Bank since It started.
