The odd.bit of spraying or nitrogen application may be left, but the pressure is off. Now we need rain for the cash crops and good drying weather for hay! Each on the proper field, of course. Tyrone UCW held a potluck lunch at the new home of Arlene and Jim Rowan at Indian River. Following a tour of the beautiful old brick house, Tyrone News we enjoyed lunch and a catchup visit. Enniskillen UCW came for a tour that afternoon. A huge crowd enjoyed the Lincolnaircs concert at Rotary Park in Bowmanvillc. This group plays music of the fifties and there was lots of loctapping. Different groups play every Thursday at 7 p.m. and the concerts arc free! The Tractor Pulling season has begun with Millbrook last week and Bolton and Blackstock coming up on June 26 and July 3 and 4 respectively,. Joyce Kelly at Blackstock has all the information. Summer services at the church have begun, so if you need information as to where and when, call the church office at 263-4107. Sunday, June 28, each church has its own service at regular time (10:45 a.m. at Tyrone). Susan Plcasancc will be leading. Enniskillen and Tyrone churches combine their services for the summer. Next Sunday, June 28 at 10:30 a.m, is the annual outdoor service when the Nestleton and Blackstock United Churches combine. It will be held at Camp Scugog, St. Christophers, Beach Rd. You are welcome welcome to bring a picnic lunch and remain for the Open House of Camp Scugog in the afternoon. Members of the Blackstock Agricultural Society will-be busy completing completing plans for the annual Tractor and Truck ' Pull which will be held next weekend on Friday and Saturday evenings, July 3 and 4. Set-up of thé grounds will take place on Monday evenings so if you wish to help, just show at the fairgrounds. Shuffieboard is held each Wednesday at the arena, if you wish to either be part of the action or be a spectator just pop in. Visitors are welcome. Members attend from many distant points to be part of this exiting sport. During the Sunday morning service at St. John's, Father Hugh baptized baptized baby Tamara Margaret Josephine Pantaleo and welcomed her into the Church. Tamara is the daughter of Franco Pantaleo and Misty Chapman and granddaughter granddaughter of Chris and Melody Chapman of Blackstock. In recognition that Sunday was also Father's Day, the children of the Church school presented each father, grandfather and great grandfather (and several several persons who didn't qualify in either category) with a small basket of candy. Fathers etc. were delighted and wish to say a hearty "Thank You" for this demonstration of love. On Sunday afternoon, there was a happy gathering in the Parish Hall as friends and neighbours joined with family members at a wedding wedding shower for Gordon Bentley and Tricia Hamilton. Gordon and Tricia will be married at St. John's on July 4th. On Sunday, June 28th we celebrate the 168th anniversary of the founding of the Parish of Cartwright. Our Parish Birthday occurs on the Feast of our Patron Saint, John the Baptist. We normally celebrate this event on the Sunday following following the 24th (unless of course, the Feast falls on Sunday).
