For the first time in her professional career, Terry MacDonald-Cadieux led laps during the running of the Motorola Cup event held at Mid-Ohio Raecway. This two-hour raec was the fourth event for Motorola cup drivers. Marty Miller, of California, drove in the GM Goodwrcnch Serviec Plus/Snap-on Tools Pontiac. Qualifying and practice was held together under partly cloudy skies, unlike the race. Miller qualified ninth on the grid and M a c D o n a I d - C ad i c u x would start. As the green flag dropped, MacDonald- Cadieux was all out, not losing any positions. In her normal fashion she started charging to the front. "I love being aggressive. It is a lot of fun rubbing fenders. fenders. And the funny thing is, I picture all kinds of body damage, but none seems to appear. These care can take it," commented Terry. Forty minutes into the race the rain began to come down, but crew chief, Ed O'Brien, didn't want to bring the GM Goodwrcnch Service Plus/Snap-on Tools Pontiac into the pits because they were in the lead. MacDonald-Cadieux had secured the lead and was maintaining first. "I didn't even know I was leading. I knew I was going faster than ever before bceausc Ed was telling me my times. He said I was extremely consistent consistent and picking up the pace by a few hundreds each lap, exactly what lie wanted," added Terry. The weather was really hazardous all day. It would drizzle, then pour and dry up only to pour down again. Past the halfway point the track was really slippery. The tires got hot, then cooled off and became water soaked only to gel heated up again. Soon they went away all together. The team pitted and Miller took over. During the pit stop, the team only lost two positions. They were third for a long time. But the sky opened up again and things got pretty hairy. A few teams pitted for rain tires and that was the lucky set up. Maxwell's mustang was on rain tires and he was hooked up. He was flying through the grid and got by Miller under an extreme downpour. Miller continued continued to dice with a few more mustangs and was looking like the winner. With only ten minutes to go, Miller went into a corner corner too fast and the car came around on him. He collected it and was on his way, but lost another position. position. The team finished in fifth position. Next race is at Pocono, PA, June 25-27. Hole In One at Newcastle G.C.
