Keith began his coast-to-coast journey in Vancouver, BC on May 1 and he plans to be back home on Prince Edward Island in time for Old Home Week in August. He's averaged about 100 kilometers a day, although he plans to take some rest days along the way. This national event stems from PEI's "Road, to Inclusion" fundraising fundraising venture that began when 'Canada introduced introduced the two-dollar coin. Urging Islanders to donate loonies to the cause of including people people with developmental disabilities, PEIACL set a goal of $2.5 million, or 1,250,000 loonies - or 50,000 toonie rolls. They soon called their event the "Road to Inclusion" Toonie cam paign. That road has now - literally - become the Trans Canada Highway and, through southeastern Ontario, Highway 401. The Ontario portion of Keith's coast-to-coast skate began in Kenora on May 28 and travelled through Dryden on May 30. He has also visited Thunder Bay, Marathon, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Parry Sound, Midland and Barrie. He will be arriving at Toronto on June 29, with a stop over in the Oshawa/Clarington area on July 4. Keith and his mother, Faye MacLean, (who is driving alongside Keith in what they've dubbed the "Toonie-Mobile" are happy to meet local media and community members along the way. They want to spread the word about including people with developmental developmental disabilities in the life of the community - and if they can pick up a few loonies along the way, so much the better. All funds raised locally will stay in the community, community, to support the work of the Oshawa/Clarington Association for Community Living. Keith's trip is sponsored sponsored by Cantel, Best Western Canada, Bauer Canada and the Canadian Association for Community Living. Picture This! Improving Your Golf Game Through Orthotics QUESTION: Telma, how can orthotics help with my golf game? As my golf pro, Russ McCaul, explained to me, golf is a game involving dynamic balance. In other words, shifting your balance from one foot to another from address to the back swing, to the swing through. As such, anything that improves your balance balance will improve the accuracy and also the power of your golf swing. Orthotics will improve the balance critical to a good golf game. The golfer will now be supported in his/her stance in a "customized" way. In order to find out whether you could benefit from orthotics in your golf shoes, come in for a free gait and pressure analy sis. We do a custom ized scan to analyz how your feet tak your weight durin the movements o normal walking, and specific balance tes Through this exam nation we'll learn orthotics can mee your balance needs. There is a thirty day money bac guarantee on orthot ics, so if this "custom balancing" doesn' help your golf game you can return the orthotics. In othe words, you have no risk and you hav only a better gol game to gain. Play Your Bes Game for Life!
