Memorial Ride Brings in $5,000 for Cancer Society Seventeen cyclists pedaling from Pickering lo Kingston on the 2nd annual Gail Perks Memorial Ride for Cancer last week took a break under the shady gazebo at Bowmanvillc's Rotary Park where refreshments were provided by Dykstra's Delicatessen. The riders expect to complete the 300 kilometer trip in three days and hand over $5,000 in pledge money to the East Durham Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society. The Memorial Ride was started by Gail Perks' family last summer after she died from cancer at age 27, VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE -- Community Care Adult Day Program in Newcastle is seeking volunteers volunteers who are interested in working with frail elderly, physically challenged and those with cognitive impairment.
