The Clarington/Courticc Independent, Bowmanville, Saturday, July II, 1998 Pace 4 Reactors in First Place The Darlington Reactors U-14 girls' soccer team played Unionvillc on Wednesday, June 24. Joining the team for her first game as a Reactor, and adding strength to the mid- field, was Jennifer Savage. The Unionvillc team came out looking very strong and scored the first goal within the first few minutes. Darlington, showing showing a great deal of maturity for a team that has only been together for two years, regrouped and finished the first half with goals by Sonya Celibcrti and Allie Wdrd-Billingham. In the second half, striker striker Julia Scsti made her first appearance of the game and made her presence known by her speed and ball skills. Scoring in the second half once again was Allie Ward- Billingham to make the final score 3-1 for Darlington. This win put the Reactors in first place in the U-14 premiere division. The Darlington Reactors U-14 girls' soccer team participated participated in the Etobicoke tournament on July 4. In their first game against Vaughan, the Reactors dominated the entire game and had many scoring opportunities, but unfortunately, just couldn't put the ball in the net. Sonya Celibcrti, with her endless digging, made some spectacular spectacular plays for Darlington, including a shot towards the end of the game that went off one of the comer posts. Final score of the game was 0-0. The second game of the day was against Kitchener, and found Darlington playing playing much better soccer, even though the game ended in a loss for the Reactors with the final score being 2-0 for Kitchener. Sarah Little, with play after play, proved once again why she is the backbone backbone of the Reactor's defense. The third and final game of the day saw Darlington paired up against Brains United. The Reactors once again weren't able to capitalize capitalize on the many chances they had and came away with a 1-1 tie. Scoring the only goal of the day for Darlington was Allie Ward- Billingham. Two tics and a loss found the Reactors eliminated from further play in the tournament. Having better success at finding the net and communicating communicating with one another out on the field is sure to help the Reactors in tournament tournament and league play. Under 1 OB Rep Team Remains Unbeaten The Darlington Undcr- 10B Rep soccer team, sponsored sponsored by National Powcrskaling and Russ Major Plumbing, remain unbeaten in regular season soccer action with their latest latest match, a 3-1 victory over Whitby. A solid defensive unit formed by Troy Webster, Jamie Stevens, Dan McCarthy and Brandon Ernst thwarted Whitby on several rushing attempts while keeper Mike Hinz's strong nclminding held Whitby to a single goal. Scoring goals for Darlington were Luc Pither, Carmen Shah and Greg Nernisz. In their latest tournament, tournament, the Darlington 2nd Annual, the team played very well, winning their Zeddys Falls 2-0 to Pickering On Tuesday, June 30, the Darlington girls' under-12 soccer team played host to the visiting Pickering squad. The girls' confidence was high as they fought the powerful Pickering team to a tie the last time they met, only to lose in a shootout. Katie Gardener was the goalie in this match and was spectacular, continuously turning back the Pickering attack. Amanda Leonard, Merissa Partington, Sally Bellerose and Katie Turvill were solid on defence, constantly constantly breaking up the visitor's visitor's rush, and clearing the ball out of trouble. Courtney Pcnfound and Kathleen Moore spearheaded the attack from the midfield, while constantly harassing the big shooters from Pickering. Jaclyn Leddy, Lisa Gilmore and Emily Bound kept the wingers under wraps while trying to send the ball through to the Darlington forwards. Cristina Ellul, Mandi Buma, Emily Dewsbury, Candace Allen, and Jana Cryderman all took turns trying to break through the visitor's stubborn stubborn defence. Pickering scored two identical goals on wicked high drives that Katie Gardener had no chance on. This left Darlington with a hard fought 2-0 loss to a very good Pickering team. With this kind of effort, the girls are improving every outing. Their first win is just around the corner. Well done, girls! Play Better Golf For Life QUESTION: Telma, I have read with interest your golf newsletters and I would like to know a little bit more about your golf injury and enhancement enhancement program. Who can benefit from it? This is a great question. The more serious a golfer you are the more you can benefit from the program. A serious golfer who plays a lot is like a finely tuned race car. Imagine what would happen, though, if the wheels on a race car start to warp and the race car starts to tilt to the right while it is driving. Can you imagine what would result going at high speeds with this? Same thing with a golfer. Anybody who has had even a minor injury that has interfered with his or her golf game can benefit very much from this program. I won't teach you how to play golf: if you want to learn how to play golf or improve the mechanics of the game, then you go see a golf pro. There you'll learn the correct correct elements of the swing and all the strategies required to play efficiently at your game. I have had the pleasure to treat a few golf pros and even they found the benefits of my golf treatment treatment program. Most goiters that I see are out of alignment, like the car that pulls to the right. Those who have come into my clinic have shoulders shoulders that are too rounded, or the right shoulder is loo low and the right hip is too high. Needless to say, these shortcomings create a lot ol tension on the right side ol the body. And goll Is not a game of tension. At least It shouldn't be. The golfer who Is not In alignment but continues continues to play Is an accident walling to happen. Consider, too, the effects on your game. Poor posture prevents you from i making a full balanced rotational rotational movement with proper proper weight shift through the golf swing. Without a full turn you will lose distance in your shot because you cannot cannot generate as much head speed. Without proper weight shift and balance you will lose distance and lose control during your short game. My Golf Injury and Enhancement program is about a customized program program designed to do three things. 1. Deal with muscle tissue tissue that has tightened up over time. 2. It is designed to realign realign the body. To stretch the tissues that are too tight and to strengthen the tissues tissues that are too weak. 3. To improve the posture posture of the body so that when you are standing at the address phase you are in better alignment and will, consequently, play better golf. The Golf Injury and Enhancement program consists consists of an evaluation and then twelve treatments following following the evaluation. Each treatment is a combination of releasing the tissues and then realigning the tissues through exercises that will return your body to its proper proper alignment. We are not talking about exercises to stretch and ready your muscles muscles prior to practicing or playing golf, but actually exercising that can correct your alignment and make you better able to play golf. Book an assessment with me today. I will show you what Is wrong with your alignment and what you need to Improve.
