The team qualified their GM Goodwrench Service Plus/Snap-on Tools Pontiac in the fifth position position for the three hour race. With much activity on the track and in the pits, the team could only hold onto a ninth place class position as the checkered flag dropped. Following tech inspection inspection one car was moved to the back, enabling the GM Goodwrench Service Plus/Snap-on Tools Pontiac to move up to fourth. As the race started MacDonald-Cadicux held her own getting into third. Twenty minutes into the race a full course yellow appeared and the leaders decided to pit. That put MacDonald-Cadicux in the lead. As the green flag dropped again, she was chased by the entire pack. "It is a totally different mind set being the rabbit instead of the dog. I have never been chased for first place before. It was a lot of pressure," comments Terry. Crewmember, Nick Curto, radioed back to her that "pressure makes diamonds!" diamonds!" Leading the pack and holding off the charging cars, Terry led for another twenty minutes, (nine laps), before the third place car look a run at her in turn one. The second and third place cars went into turn one side by side. The Mustang backed off and the camaro went too deep, using MacDonald- Cadicux as brakes. The three of them started to spin. MacDonald-Cadicux went for a real ride, two and a half times around. "All I remember is seeing wall, race track, wall, race track, wall, race track," adds Terry. When she had 'finally come to a stop, most of the field had gone around her. She started her damaged car and limped around to the pits. She had no tire, a broken fan belt and the front suspension was out. Under yellow flag conditions, her crew went to work changing car parts each lap. The team got the GM Goodwrench Service Plus Pontiac back to good running order, although Marty said from time to time it was a handful to drive. The team had only gone down one lap during the first stop. Towards the final twenty minutes Miller radioed that he was getting fuel stumble. Your Feet Are "Gateways" to Your Knees, Hips and Back compensate. Depending on QUESTION: Telma, I am starting to get the idea that I should come and see you if I have flat feet and let you examine examine my feet I have enjoyed three articles on flat feet. How do you mean that flat feet can cause a problem in my knees, my hips and my back? I do not quite understand that. Put down the newspaper and stand UP. Take your left loot, roll the arch in and keep it rolled. Now walk. Right away you'll feel a pull in your leg, either in your knee, hips or in your back. This is an example of how a flat foot affects your walk, and how your walk will, in turn, affect other areas el your body. A person with flat feet is actually walking on his/her arches. Multiply this little demonstration demonstration by the number of steps a person will take in life, and the picture for complications from flat feet becomes very clear. Everybody rolls in on their arches when they walk, but It's only for an instant and only to transmit the weight from our heels to our toes for the push off. Walking normally, normally, Ihe heel will strike and then we roll through the mid-foot, It Battens lor an Instant, but when wo push oil again wo should bo pushing off with (ho toes. But a flat loot will causo the walker to push oil the flat- toned arch. A strain on Iho knoo results because Iho molion pulls on Iho knoo, If loll uncorroclod, Iho musclos running from Iho knoo to Iho hip aro affoctod. Now hip pain may suilaco. II loll uncorroct- od tlio pain may spread to Iho Jjack and tlio body will try to the "solution" the body tries, neck pain and headaches could be just around the corner. corner. Another possibility is that a flat foot will predispose the sufferer to heel and foot problems problems and we talked about that in the last article. Through writing about this condition, 1 hope 1 have made my readers more aware of the dangers of leaving it untreated. untreated. We learned that children can be helped and Ihe good news is that physiotherapy will also help adults. Where the loot is flattened because the person Is actually actually walking on their Inside arch, but the arch remains in good condition, orlhotics are critical to support that arch. Physiotherapy may also be needed, as a treatment before jumping into orthotics. Why? Orthotics will not correct the muscular imbalance imbalance that has caused the flat foot. The physiotherapist will examine the loot, your knees and your back and will emphasize muscles that help to stabilize or correct the flatness flatness ol the loot. One of the most Important sols ol muscles muscles In this case are the PELVIC, the HIP, the BACK, and the ABDOMINAL muscles. muscles. By training those muscles muscles to bo a little stronger, we can help support Iho hips, the back, the knoos and ultimately ultimately Iho Hat toot. It you have flat foot or knoo, hip or back problems, book an appointment to seo your physiotherapist.
