Five contestants were selected for a regional team. They will go on to compete in Peterborough in September. The Regional Team, coached by Tom Barrie, includes: Katharine Found, Andrea Meszaros, Elizabeth Millson, Nancy Metcalf, and alternate Tara Malcolm. The annual 4-H "Go for the Gold" competition was held in the Blackstock United Church on August 6th. There were 10 teams participating and these included: Beef, Financial, Forestry, Field Crops, Sheep, Swine, Dairy I, Dairy II, Animal Friends and Horse. The teams were made up of four members who are chosen from within the club. Each team was to consist of one novice (first year), one junior, one senior and one other. The questions came from the 4-H projects currently running running in 1998. Each team played two games and the top four teams advanced to the semi-finals. Then the top two teams moved on to the finals. Animal Friends was declared the gold medal team. Animal Friends team members were: Andrea Meszaros, Katharine Found, Natalie Kellogg, and Jenny Cartwright. The silver medal team was Dairy II, and that team included Drew Sharp, Katharine DcJong, Chris Oylcr and Alison Malcolm.
