She studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, and in France at the Beaubourg Academy and the Sorbonne. Since coming to Canada, she has displayed her work around the Greater Toronto Area. The artist started by working with oil paint. But she soon changed to the monoprint technique. A great deal of the display currently in Bowmanvillc is made up of monoprints, although other media have been used. Monoprints arc one-of-a-kind impressions made by painting on glass or plastic, then transferring the images through the use of a printing press onto the surface of fine rag paper. Mustafa's monoprints are colorful, eye-catching and thought-provoking. "I love it. Sometimes I start to do something with putting colours together on top of each other, and then get the idea. With oil, you have to have the idea first," she says. Mustafa is pleased to be displaying her work in Bowmanvillc. "I like this gallery a lot -- its look and the management," management," she says.
