A 1986 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Jason Mitchell, 20, of Oshawa was travelling north on Ritson Road, just south of Conlin Road. Mitchell was seriously injured and transported to Sunnybrook Medical Hospital in Toronto. A passenger passenger in the car, 19-year-old Adam McDuff, of Oshawa, was also seriously injured and taken to Oshawa General Hospital. The North ' Durham Ladies' Lob Ball League held their tournament Sat, and Sun., Aug. 29 and 30. A good audience came to cheer their teams on. There were seven teams, three from Solina, one from Burketon, two from Hampton, two from Enniskillen and one from Courtice. There were some exciting games played and the final results of the two days are: A Champions: Enniskillen Store with the A runners-up, Harrison Fuels Sliders. B Champions: Solina Steelers, C Champions: McQuaid Contracting, D Champions: Hampton Hooters. Each team elects its most valuable player. Also n date change for U.C.W, to Sept, 14 at 7:30 p.m, Police Briefs Attempted Break-In In Orono An attempted break-in was foiled last weekend when neighbours chased the suspects from a house. An Orono resident was home alone around 11:30 a.m.Sunday when she noticed two males in a truck pulling into her driveway. A neighbour noticed the truck had been hotwired, and disabled the vehicle. A brief confrontation led to the suspects suspects fleeing the scene. Durham Regional Police, along with the Canine Unit, searched the area until 4 p.m. Sunday, but were eluded by the suspects. Both suspects are described as male and in their late teens. One is thought to be of medium height, with a slight build. The pair is being sought by Durham Regional Police Clarington detectives. Tractor Stolen A tractor worth a total of $29,000 was stolen on the weekend from Quarry Lakes Golf Club. The tractor, a John Deere, model number 855, was equipped with a front-end loader and cultivator. It was taken between 10 p.m. August 28th and 6 a.m. August 29th. The matter is currently being investigated by Durham Regional Police Clarington detectives. Careless Driving Charge Durham Regional Police have laid a charge of careless driving against a man after an accident near Leskard Friday night. The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m, on the 8th Concession, west of Highway 35/115, when a Chevrolet S10 left the road and hit a hydro pole. The driver of the truck faces a charge of careless driving. Stephen Abbott, 34, of Campbcllcroft, was transported transported to Oshawa General Hospital with serious injuries. The collision is under investigation by the Traffic Management Unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact Durham Regional Police at 579-1520, ext. 5256. Oshawa Home Invasion - Durham Regional Police are reminding homeowners to secure ground floor windows at night, following a home invasion and sexual assault in south Oshawa. On Saturday, at about 1 a.m., a 74-ycar-old woman was attacked after a man climbed through her open ground floor bedroom window window near Bloor Street East and Ritson Road South. The victim had been sexually sexually assaulted and suffered bruising and scratching to her face, head and body. She was taken to Oshawa Hospital. Durham Regional Police announced Tuesday that a 19- ycar-old Oshawa man had been arrested and charged with break, enter and commit sexual assault and sexual assault causing bodily harm.
