The Toros outscorcd their opposition 42- 3. They opened with a two game road trip. Their first game matched them against Newmarket. The boys dominated from start to finish and skated away with a 7-0 victory. Collecting points were: Greg Ncmisz with one goal, three assists; John Bull one goal, two assists; Matthew Garrison two goals; Keegan Lawson and Kyle Robertson one goal, one assist each; James Hoffman two assists; Andrew Bobas one goal; Justin Standlcr and Matthew Perron one assist each. Goaltcndcr Derek Walker earned the shutout. For their next game, the Halminen Homes team travelled to Belleville. The young Toros came out seeing red. It turned out to be the goal light at the other end, as they scored seven times in the opening frame. They went on to score four more in the game and cmise to a 11 -0 victory. Scoring for Clarington were; Stadlcr with four goals, Garrison and Ncmisz with a hat trick each and Bobas with a single. Drawing helpers were: Bobas with three; Perron, Ncmisz and Nicholas Diachenko with two each; Hoffman, Garrison, Lawson and Chris Rivest added singles. singles. Sharing the shutout were goaltcndcrs Zacli Higgins and Walker. Returning to the friendly coniines of Garnet B. Rickard arena, the boys met Pickering. This game turned out to be similar similar to the previous two games. Again it was the strong skating of the young Toros that propelled them to a 9-1 victory. The game had numerous highlights, one being the back checking of the Toro forwards, particularly hard-working wingers Matthew Garrison and Andrew Bobas. Scoring were: Hoffman with a hat trick; Stadlcr, Lawson and Ncmisz with two goals apiece. Adding assists were Ncmisz with three; Bobas with two; Hoffman, Lawson, Robertson and Matthew Pcden with one each. Coach Ncmisz hoped his team would continue their winning winning streak. To do so they would have to beat the team from Barrie. The Toros opened the scoring when Stadlcr went coast- ' to-coast on a nice individual effort. Barrie then capitalized on a bad clearing attempt to draw even. The next two goals went to the Toros as Garrison scored on a feed from linematc Perron. With Barrie a man down, Hoffman scored .a power-play marker marker on a pass from Lawson. Barrie then countered with a goal of their own, with just twenty-one seconds remaining in the opening opening period. Not to be outdone, the Toros answered with only four seconds left, as Hoffman's hard drive beat the Barrie goalie and gave Clarington a 4-2 edge after one period. The Toros came out flying in the second and scored four unanswered goals to put the game out of reach. The game ended in a 8-2 victory. Scoring in the second were Ncmisz with a hat trick and Garrison adding a single. Picking up assists were Perron with two, Rivest and Bobas with one each. Next the team travelled to Aurora, despite having three players missing from the line-up they continued their strong play and came away victorious winning 7-0. James Hoffman led the offence with three goals, Stadlcr, Garrison, Robertson and Chad McPaul each chipped in with one apiece. Adding helpers were Bobas and Bull with two each. Stadlcr and Peden picked up one apiece. The goaltcnding tandem of Higgins and Walker made several acrobatic stops in preserving their third shutout in five games. The duo also sports a minuscule goals against average of .68 in 22 games. Helping them achieve this are a strong group of defencemen which include Matthew Peden, Chad McDonald, Nicholas Diachenko, Chris Rivest, Chad McPaul and Kyle Robertson. 7\ Hobb Bakker Bergin Hill Settle For Tie on Late Goal On October 22 the Hobb Bakker Bergin Minor Pcewee 'A' Toros travelled to Cobourg. After a scoreless first period, the Toros opened the scoring at the 1:00 minute mark of the second period when Matt Savoie scored an unassisted goal by pouncing on a loose puck in front of the Cobourg net and firing it in. Cobourg came right back scoring 23 seconds later and added a second goal before the end of the second to grab a 2-1 lead. This set the stage for an exciting third period. John DcMille tied the game when he lifted a backhander into the top corner corner of the net. Drawing assists on the play were Eric Button and Adam O'Connell. John DeMille then made an excellent pass to an open Devon Potter in front of the net and Devon made no mistake giving the Toros a 3-2 lead. Also assisting on the goal was Kyle Myschowoda. Play went end-to-end with Kevin Kirkwood in the Toro net and the Cobourg goalie both making several good saves. Cobourg, with 14.3 seconds left, found the back of the Toros' net to tie a well played game. Clarington Peewee Selects Open Season in Pickering The Clarington Peewee Selects first league game action was on the road against Pickering. Pickering was in control from the drop of the puck, rushing into the Clarington zone and scoring on their first shot. Clarington fought back and tied the contest later in the first period with Jordan Thompson firing home a goal off an Ian Watt rebound. The second period was the downfall of Clarington allowing three Pickering goals on 11 shots. Despite three power play opportunities, Clarington couldn't muster any goals and trailed 4-1 after two periods of play. Again Pickering dominated play in the third period outshooting Clarington 9-5. Pickering managed to slip one goal by Adam Jukes, who had to make a number of good saves, to make the final score 5-1. In exhibition action, Markham beat Clarington 4-1. Scoring for Clarington was Scott Parsons assisted by Jordan Thompson- Yeates. Whitby defeated Clarington 2-0 in close exhibition game. Whitby scored both their goals on power play, opportunities and outshot Clarington 17-7 for the game. Goalies Curtis Carrière and Adam Jukes played strong to keep Clarington in the game. Just Kick It The Bowmanvillc School Group's Junior Soccer Tournament took place last Tuesday at Waverlcy Public School. Fast Start for Young Drivers ! Young Drivers of Canada opened their season with a pair of wins in the Clarington Novice Hockey League. ; Their first game saw them pitted against Braggs Bird Seed. Young Drivers recorded an amazing 11-4 victory, Tyler Whyte netted seven goals, while Mark Wroblewski and Jacob Stockwell each contributed two. Assists went to Chris Hesson and James Masarovich with two, and Jonathan Kurianowicz, Derek English, Calvin Kuzma, Nicholas Chadwich and Shaun Bodnaryk each with one. Brad Fegan played a solid game on defence, while David Milne and Ryan Gallagher also played well. Cory Posteraro had a strong showing in net which contributed to the win. Next the team was matched against Kids Love Hockey, and again the team played outstanding, recording recording a 5-1 victory. Mark Wroblewski recorded his first hat trick of the season. Chris Hesson and Jonathan Kurianowicz rounded out the scoring with one goal each. Derek English contributed contributed with an assist. Cory Posteraro made some key saves to help land Young Drivers of Canada their second second win of the season. Young Drivers of Canada battled against Orono's TRT in Novice hockey play and came out with a 4-4 tie in what proved to be their most exciting game of the season thus far. Orono opened the game with two quick goals before Young Drivers' Jonathan Kurianowicz was able to connect with his own on a good passing play by Brad Fegan and Jacob Stockwell. Orono scored once more in the first to take the lead by a score of 3-1. In the second period, Young Drivers' Tyler White popped in two of his three goals for the day, while Orono netted one more to make it 4-3. The third period saw Cory Posteraro make some amazing amazing saves to keep Young Drivers in the race. Tyler White notched his third goal to end the game with a 4-4 tie. J&M Tire Wins 12-6 On October 31, J&M Tire defeated Computer Doctor by a score of 12-6 in Clarington Recreational Hockey League Novice action.
