The first game pitted Mackie's against a strong team from Aurora. The young Bulls got off to a fast start when Chris Marchant scored after a pin point pass from Adam Berks. In the second period, Hailey VanSeggelen converted. a nifty setup from Chris Jukic and Kyle Goodchild to put Clarington up 2-0. Mike Shrider played strongly in goal until Aurora capitalized on a Clarington miscuc. Late in the third period, Aurora capitalized capitalized on some scrambly play to pull even. As time ran out, the score remained a 2-2 tie. On Sunday, October 25, Mackie's Automotive travelled travelled to Newmarket to meet the number one team from the Western Division, the Newmarket Redmen. Kyle Goodchild followed up on a Chris Marchant rebound and fired one past the Newmarket goalie to put the Bulls up 1-0. Newmarket continued to press and the Redmen evened the score in the second. However, Mitch McMichael and Brian Allore set Jeff Ward up for a low shot from the the point that eluded the Newmarket nctmindcr. From here on out it was all Toros as they scored three unanswered goals and cruised to a 5-1 win. The Toros third goal was scored by Chris Jukic with assists to Kyle Goodchild and Chris Marchant. The fourth and fifth goals were both scored by Hailey VanSeggelen with assists going to David Ross and Cory Prince. Strong goaltcnding from Chad Deighton, tenacious forechecking from Jason Cad well, and thundering bodychecks delivered by Tim Lew, Nicolas Bonin, and Danny Morrison, set the tempo for this game. Continued strong play gives the Mackie Automotive AA Minor Atoms a 4-0-1 start to the regular season. National Sports Rolls to Victories National Sports rolled to two impressive victories this week, 6-1 over Ajax and 7-1 over the highly touted Uxbridge Stars. With Chris Wood playing another strong game in goal, National Sports played a consistently consistently strong game and were always in control over Ajax. Joey Castellano almost got a hat-trick on his first shift, scoring two early goals with assists to Chris McDaniel on the first goal and to Jamie Bryant and Chris McDaniel again on the second. Then, Darren Kelly scored on a nice passing play from McDaniel, Sean Lefort and Mark Lemieux. Chris McDaniel got his third point of the night on another set up from Scan Lefort and Mark Lemieux. Chris Wood the goalie, got his third assist of the season on a passing play by clearing the puck to defenceman Mike Kari, who passed it up to Jesse Millson. Darren Kelly scored again on a nice pass from Mark Bonin. Mike Kari wrapped up the scoring on a thrcc : way passing passing play with Derek Horath and Dan Coux. National Sports outshot Ajax 23-20. Adam Hawke played in goal and stopped every shot lie faced. The next night, Hallowe'en night, National did some serious trick-or- treating of their own against Uxbridge with National Sports winning 7-1. Derek McGrath got us going with the first two goals with Joey Castellano getting assists on both and Jesse Millson also picking up an assist on the second of Derek's goals. Then, Darren Kelly got an unassisted goal to make it 3- 0. National Sports kept pouring pouring it on when Scan Lefort scored from Mark Lemieux. Mark Bonin then scored on a pass from MikeTribou. Mark Lemieux got National Sports' next goal on a pass from Scan Lefort. John Stafford wrapped it up for National Sports with an unassisted goal. National Sports now heads to a tournament in Dundas this weekend. CMC Custom Machining Toros Undefeated in Last Three Games The Cutsom Machining Major Pccwcc AA team beat Oshawa4-0, tied Peterborough 4-4, and beat Belleville 3-1 in their last three outings. Colin Baker picked up five goals. Matt Beech two, and singles went to Brendan Kalijundic, Garrett Ncmisz, Mike Daly, and Zach Pithcr. Assists went to Stephen Nclles with three, Colin Baker with two, Zach Pithcr with two, Shawn Hughes with two, and singles going to Greg Tamblyn, Matt Tamblyn, Tadd Evans and Tyler Brown. The entire team played well, and the goaltcndcrs continue to be strong with the shutout going to Justin Vandcbclt. Lange's Photo Edge Ajax Laing, McHardy and Rohr Steal Two Points Over Newmarket in Midget Play On Sunday, October 25, the Laing, McHardy and Rohr Midget Toros travelled to Newmarket for a league game. The Toros were not at their best, but fortunately for the Clarington squad Newmarket was worse. The Toros stole two points by virtue of a 3-2 win which could have very easily been a loss. Each team scored a quick goal in the first two minutes and Newmarket took the lead with a late first period goal. The Toros scored once in the second and Once in the third to go home with the victory. Chris Laton had two goals for the Toros and Blake Aylsworth added the other. The assists went to Jeff floss with two, Darryl Adams and Matt Stout. ; The next night the Toros hosted a determined Markham squad who out- skated, outhustled and outplayed outplayed the lifeless Toros. As a result of their lacklus tre play the Clarington boys handed the visitors a win in a game that was played largely shorthanded shorthanded and very scrambly. The season record for the Toros now stands at 4-3-1. Josh Kewell started the scoring for the Lange's Foto Peewee Toros when he popped in his own rebound past the Ajax Knights' net- minder. The Knights came back with two; one on a power play for the lead. The Toros fought back in the third taking advantage of a power play when Jesse Bradburn passed up to Jason Hicks to tie the game. Andrew Oliver rifled one in ' the top corner on a pass from Brooks Robinson, putting putting the Toros in front. The lead was shortlived as Ajax tied the game 26 seconds later. With just over a minute on the clock, Jason Hicks hit the top comer for a 4-3 victory. Paul Reid and Mike Taylor assisted. The Toros played their next game against the Whitby Wildcats. The Wildcats were on the board first. The Toros' Andrew Oliver, unassisted, tied the game with a breakaway using his backhand. After numerous penalties from both clubs, the Wildcats went ahead by three. The Toros started to come back, narrowing the lead when Jason Morrison pegged Drew Sharp's rebound during during a five on three. Josh Kewell assisted. With 13 seconds left, Michael Oliver fired in Zach Vine's rebound on a power play. Paul Reid assisted. Time ran out and the Wildcats prevailed prevailed 4-3. Shoppers Loses Close Battle with Investor Group Shoppers Drug Mart Minor Tyke hockey team lost a close battle against Investor Group at the Bowmanville Arena. Stefan Diachenko opened the scoring in the first period for Shoppers Drug Mart to take the lead. However, Investors Group came back with two goals to make the score 2-1 after the first period. In the second second period, Shoppers Drug Mart's Rory Craddock, Eric Fegan and Kenny Robertson each had good scoring opportunities, and goalie Brady Richards made some key saves, but Investors Group connected with one more goal to take a 3-1 lead at the end of the second. The third period proved to be an exciting one. Shoppers Drug Mart had many scoring opportunities, opportunities, and finally with just over one minute left in the game, Stefan Dichenko scored again to bring the final tally to 3-2 for the Investors Group.
