More Passengers Take GO Transit Ridership on GO Transit was up by 8.1 per cent between 1996 and 1997. This is above the national average average ridership increase of 2.3 per cent. It was established in 1976 to encourage donations and raise [money for assurances in continued technology for the [hospital. In a press release last week, the Foundation added that donations it receives will be used exclusively in ■ Bowmanville. "We are committed to working with the community to be able to offer health care services and [keep technology current," said the Foundation. Church Marks Anniversary In Costumes Of the 1800's by Shirley Sobil Zion United Church in Mitchell's Corner began celebrations for their 150th Anniversary on October 18, 1998. In the Methodist tradition tradition and dating back to the eighteen hundreds, the congregation dressed in appropriate dress wear. Ladies, girls and small children were wearing long dresses, hoops, hats, hat pins, gloves, some aprons, granny boots, purses and hankies. The men and boys were in hats, braces, vests and old hair styles. The ladies, led by Pat Fisher, met in the old Sunday School room at 10:00 a.m. for Sunday School class. The men gathered in the Christian Education wing with Ron Phillips convening. The children were upstairs in the new addition over the Christian Education wing. Following Sunday School class everyone convened in the Christian Education wing to witness Reverend Bryan Ransom lead in the dedication of the new Christian Education addition. We sang "We Have This Ministry". Catherine Walt opened the door leading upstairs to the new addition. addition. It has four rooms for Sunday School classes to be held and a large open space. More than 200 items were on display display at Camp Samac in Oshaxva. These ranged from quilts to wall, hangings, hangings, jackets and other outfits.
