The lovely baskets of flowers at the front of Orono United Church on Sunday morning were in memory of the late Charles Miller. Memorial Day A very excellent parade of Veterans, Sea Cadets, Scouts, Beavers, Cubs, Brownies and school children, children, led by the colorful Bowmanvillc Kiltie Band and Salvation Army Band. A particularly large parade, this year, with so many young folks. Legion member Sterling Mather, welcomed all and greetings from Alex Shepherd M.P.; John O'Toole M.P.P.; greetings from Clarington given by Charles Trim, in absence of Mayor Hamre. An excellent address by Lt. Doug Stevens, to always "remember" "remember" and he also gave the closing blessing. Great music was sup plied by Salvation Army band. Names of the fallen were read out by Comrade Gloria Grant and 22-23 wreaths laid by members of organizations and Veterans. A very large attendance returned to I.O.O.F. Hall for refreshments, following the sevice at the Cenotaph. It's remarkable to see the girls in Sea Cadet uniforms, and a young lady in Kiltie band, playing bagpipes! Girls are now in the Boy Scouts. Move over guys, the young ladies are moving in! Unit #3 A very enjoyable afternoon afternoon meeting held Tuesday, November 3 at the home of Mrs. Hilda Wright, Durham Sr. Citizens, on Station St., Orono, with 12 ladies present. present. Isabelle welcomed everyone and Betty Major gave a Thanksgiving poem. A very interesting story, "the Diary of the Little Bible", made us all a bit "uncomfortable", but here's hoping, we'll all find ours sooner! Our guest speaker was Mr. Warren Lament, a former former Stedmans Store Manager, who is now working working with the dcvclopmcntal- ly challenged folks, in Bowmanvillc. There arc 35 young folks registered and they meet from 9-3. Some of the young folks are already working, part time. A very successful bake sale was held at the recent "Applelcst". Several schools in our area are helping with gym classes etc. All help is volunteer and these young people just need to be accepted by our community. Our speaker was thanked and a gift of new tea towels was graciously accepted for the group! Isabelle gave reports. A delicious after noon tea was served by our hostess and an.added feature was a beautiful decorated birthday cake for our member member Olive Millson celebrating celebrating this week. Other festivities included a penny sale, tea-room, craft sale and bake table. A MOVING TRIBUTE -- Over 100 people attended Remembrance Day Services in Orono November 8th. On Sunday afternoon, veterans paraded down Main Street to the. Cenotaph, where they paid their respects to their fallen comrades. Wreaths were laid by Alex Shepherd, MP; John O'Toole, MPP; Councillor Charlie Trim, of the Municipality of Clarington, and many others from the Orono area. All were thinking of those who made the supreme sacrifice. Enniskillen News Hymn Book Donations Welcomed by Belly Wright On Sunday the Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Sparks, Brownies, Guides and Pathfinder groups were with us for the Remembrance Day Service. Reverend Norm Seli played the Last Post and the Reveille on the trumpet. Members of the groups took part in the service by reading the scriptures and helping take up the offering. Many thanks to all who arranged the Quilt Display in our town of Bowmanvillc and also the beautiful showing at Camp Samac.
