She has given excellent leadership for many years and has now retired. Orono Sways with Elvis A large crowd was in attendance Sunday evening in Orono United Church. They were treated to the bygone years of Priestly Music, (all kinds). Reverend Dorian Baxter is truly a real Christian Christian entertainer and received a standing ovation ovation at the close of the evening. Canada's top Elvis Presley impersonator, Dorian Baxter, has found an unusual way of sharing his faith. He did just that when lie performed at Orono United Church on Sunday, November 15th at 7 p.m. The 47-ycar-old ordained Anglican priest who teaches high school full-time in Newmarket, is also none other than Elvis 'Priestly'. Dressed in black leather or a rhinestone jumpsuit, the dynamic, hip-gyrating Elvis impersonator has spent the last year belling out Elvis' hits of the 50's and 60's to packed venues across the country - bringing bringing the house down with renditions of Elvis gospel songs like Amazing Grace. Snowflake Bazaar Debbie Morrison (left) helped out at St. John's Anglican Church's Snowflake Bazaar by selling holiday crafts made by ladies of the church. The bazaar took place November 14th. Guides Earn Canada Cords Drama Awards Presented At Local High Schools President John Maloney is seen presenting the Bowmanvillc Drama Club award to Rebecca Vatcher of Bowmanvillc High School for her contribution to drama during her years in high school. Awards from the drama club were also presented at this year's area graduations to Tina Teeninga of Durham Christian High School, Rebecca Walhout of St. Stephen's Secondary School, Rachael Jackson of Clarke High School and Joanne Laing of Courtice High School. Darlington District Girl Guide News On November 1, 1998, Girl Guides du Canada of Central Area, hosted a special special ceremony at Kingsview United Church in Oshawa, in recognition of those Pathfinders who earned and received their Canada Cord. The Canada Cord is awarded to those Pathfinders who complete the "Be Prepared Emblem and the Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of the Community, Home, Outdoors and World Emblems and either of the Camping or Leadership Emblem" of the Pathfinder program. We would like to congratulate congratulate the five girls from Darlington District who are Canada Cord recipients: Andrea Barr; Ashley Broome, Danielle Crydcrman, Becky Griffin and Kim Keith. We arc very proud of you! On November 8, 1998, the Sparks, Brownies and Guides and Guidcrs joined the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts for the Remembrance Day service at Enniskillen United Church. The groups paraded paraded into the church, carrying carrying the flags. Reverend Scli's service was a memorable memorable one.
