Obituary MALCOLM Victor Leslie Raymond Victor was the eldest son of the late Rae and Emma Malcolm and was born in Cartwright Township on July 11, 1918. Following a lingering lingering illness, he passed away peacefully at his home on October 21,1998. Reverend Michelle Hofman officiated at the funeral service service which was held at the Wagg Funeral Home in Perl Perry. Interment followed at the family plot at the North Nestleton United Church Cemetery Cemetery on October 23, 1998. Victors eldest son, Wayne Malcolm, assisted in the funeral funeral service with a brief eulogy. eulogy. During his lifetime, Victor was involved in many activities; activities; he was a successful farmer and was employed for a time with the Boys' Train ing School in Bowmanville. He later served the Township Township of Cartwright as a cap able and efficient Clerk Treasurer. He later moved to the Township of Reach where he was employed in the same capacity. While residing residing in Nestleton, Vic and Win were active participants in both:ohurch and icogimun- ity, TheyJater relocated to Bowmanville where ,they became became custodians of the Lions Club Centre. From Bowmanville, they moved to the Seagrave area where they assisted their daughter, daughter, Brenda, in her Garden Market operation. Vic will long be remembered for his keen wit and "twlnkly- eyed repartee". He will be sadly missed by his closely knit family unit; his devoted wife of fifty-four years, Winilda (nee Kerr); and their children Wayne and his wife Joan; Brenda Haines and her friend, Bob McKinlay; Denise and her husband Jamie Kent; Vernon and his wife Nancy; and Mark a his wife, kalhryn. He was also loved and respected by his 14 grandchildren and his 4 great-grandchildren. He was a dear brother of Harvey and his wife, Corrie and Ralph and his wife, Ruth. He is also survived by his venerable Uncle Percy Malcolm of Toronto. Wearing, winner of the National Magazine Award and the Western Canada Magazine Award for travel writing, has had articles and short stories in national national newspapers and journals, journals, and lier work broadcast broadcast on CBC Radio. While in residence at Champlain College, Wearing is completing completing a book based on lier experiences in Iran. She has lived and worked throughout Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the former Soviet Union, China and the Amazon regions of Ecuador and Peru. Wearing's next writing project will take lier to Israel and Palestine sometime sometime in early 1999. The title of Wearing's talk is Solitary Motion: states of travel, writing and solitude.
