i Page 12 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanvillc, November 25, 1998 Orono Resident Serves in Bosnia With Canadian-Led NATO Force Corporal Janet Wcndland, a native of Orono, is currently serving with the Canadian contingent of the NATO-led Stabilization Force (or SFOR) in Bosnia Herzegovina. Cpl Wcndland, 32, is a Medical Assistant with the Unit Medical Station (UMS) at Camp Holopina, headquarters of the 3 RCR Battle Group, located in the northern part of the Canadian area of responsibility. The Baltic Group is made up of approximately 900 soldiers, and lakes its name from its largest component, component, the 3rd Battalion The Royal Canadian Regiment. The UMS looks after the routine and emergency medical treatment of Canadian soldiers at Camp Holopina, and provides a limited humanitarian, medical service at a rural clinic nearby. Durham Regional Police Briefs Robbery Suspect Sought Durham Regional Police are looking for a suspect after $300 was reported stolen from the Orono Beaver Gas Bar on Highway 35/115 in Newcastle. Police shy a man entered the kiosk at the gas station last Sunday while the attendant attendant was waiting on another customer. When the attendant attendant returned, he found the cash had been stolen from the cash register. The suspect is described as a male in his mid-20s, 5'6" tall, about 150 pounds, with a fair complexion, dark brown hair, and a full beard. He was wearing a jean jacket jacket and jogging pants at the time. Police say the suspect left southbound in a red Chevrolet S10 pick-up truck. Obscenities Painted on Vehicles Three cars received damage damage while parked in Courtice last week. Police were called Friday when owners of three cars found obscenities had been painted on their vehicles in bright yellow paint. Two of the incidents occurred on Brownstone Crescent.
