In the final game, Newcastle edged Bobcaygcon by a score of 5-4. Newcastle IGA Wins 'A' Trophy On November 7, the Newcastle IGA Atom rep team travelled to Bobcaygeon fora tournament. In the first game against Douro, Trevor Clarke scored, assisted by Brett Gillan and Ryan Nicholson. Justin Clarke added a second goal, assisted by Nicholas Peloso and Aaron Fattori, Darryl Stacey found the back of the net with assists going to Scott Willits and Kyle Whealy. Newcastle won the game 3-0, earning goaltcndcrs Mitchell Bacon and Keenan Cormier a shared shutout. Game two found Newcastle playing Fenelon Falls. Ryan Nicholson scored two goals with assists going to Brett Gillan and Justin Clarke. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. In a five minute, threc-on-threc overtime, Justin Clarke scored the deciding goal assisted by Justin Bradley and Darryl Stacey. In the final game against Bobcaygeon, Newcastle led the way 3-1 in the first period. Goals were scored by Justin Clarke, Scott Willits and Trevor Clarke. Assists went to Robert Henderson, Justin Bradley, Kyle Whealy, Ryan Nicholson, Justin Clarke, Aaron Fattori. In the second period, Justin Clarke added an unassisted goal. In the third period of play, Scott Willits scored, assisted assisted by Ryan Nicholson and Nicholas Peloso. In the remaining minutes, Bobcaygeon fought hard only to come up short. Newcastle prevailed 5-4 to win the 'A' Championship. Justin Clarke took home the MVP award. Also, Cameron Richardson deserves mention for playing hard after a week-long illness. The game was close throughout as the Toros trailed 2-1 after one period and were tied 3-3 after the second period. The visitors scored a quick third period marker to make the score 4- 3, and added an empty net goal to make the final score 5-3. Toros getting on the scoreboard were Jon Black with 2 goals, Mike Harper with 2 assists, Chris Laton 1 goal, Nick Smith and Rob Kamcka with 1 assist each. On Sunday, November 15, the Toros visited the Evinrudc centre in Peterborough to take on the National squad. The National goaltcnder stoned Courtice Health Centre Edged On Saturday, November 21, the Courtice Health Centre hockey team played against Rotary Club at Bowmanville arena. Courtice Health came out strong and played a solid game losing a tight game by a score of 3-2. The Courtice Health team was led by a great game on defence from Daniel Bailey. The goal scorers for Courtice Health were Daniel Ciancone with his first goal of the season and Taylor Dingman. The Courtice Health team played on Saturday, November 28, against Blessing Travel and came out on top by a score of 5-2. A solid game on defence by Keith Coltcrman helped the team to victory. Goal scorers for the team were Brennan LaChancc with one and Dylon McMahon with four. the Toros in their previous meeting and continued his dominance of the Clarington team until the second period when Ian Cuthbertson bulged the twine to make the score 1-1. The Toros' Blake Aylsworth, who drew the assist on the first goal, made it 2-1 Toros scoring with 1:05 left with the helper going to Darryl Adams. The Peterborough squad fought back and scored three unanswered unanswered markers in the final period to make the final score Peterborough Nationals 5, Toros 2. The Toros continued their struggle as they hosted Ajax on Monday, November 16. The game was a close battle as each team managed to score only once until midway through the third period when Ajax took the lead 2-1. The home squad yanked their goaltcnder attempting to get the equalizer equalizer but got stung as Ajax found the empty cage and earned a 3-1 victory.
