Helpful Hints from the LCBO If you're planning a party this holiday season, the LCBO has 10 common-sense common-sense responsible hosting tips to help make your gathering both safe and fun. "As host of a party, you can be held legally responsible responsible for injuries or damages damages that occur as a result of the alcohol you serve," advises Elizabeth Kruzel, LCBO Co-ordinator, Social Responsibility. "If you plan ahead and follow these responsible hosting tips, you can reduce the risk to yourself and your guests and still have a great time." The most important tip is to keep everything in moderation, says Kruzel. Other considerations include: designating a bartender; bartender; serving food with drinks; and ensuring guests get home safely. "To help make your event worry-free, designate designate a sober server, and offer low-and alcohol-free refreshments," says Michael Fagan, LCBO's Manager, Product Knowledge. "It's also particularly particularly important for the host to avoid drinking too much." "Staying sober so you can react quickly and appropriately is the key to responsible hosting," Fagan stresses. "Being responsible will enhance, not detract, from a great party.". LCBO staff at 600 stoics throughout Ontario can help you plan your holiday events, and offer advice on food and beverage beverage matching. LCBO's free Food and Drink magazine magazine for responsible hosts, available in stoics, also suggests appropriate food/drink matches. To further promote safe and sober driving, the LCBO is selling $5 holiday-theme, holiday-theme, Bell QuickChange (TM) prepaid prepaid phonecards at checkouts checkouts in 373 stores across the province. All proceeds from card sales will support support the R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program. LCBO customers, can purchase purchase these phonecards as gifts or for personal use to call cabs, friends, or family family members instead of drinking and driving this holiday season. Reduce the risks, increase the good times, and help ensure your guests arrive home safely by following these 10 tips for responsible, responsible, hassle-free hosting: 10. Don't plan physical activities when you serve, alcohol. People are more prone to injury or mishap after drinking. 9. Have low-alcohol and alcohol-free drinks available. 8. Serve snacks. Try veggies, cheeses and light dips - they taste great and don't make your guests thirsty. 7. Be prepared for overnight guests. 6. Mix drinks yourself or designate a bartender.
