The students played to a large audience of parents, grandparents, teachers and friends. I Awarding Excellence Rosanna Yankanah (left) and Rachel Brittain were among the winners at Clarke High School's annual Junior Academic Achievement Awards ceremonies, held last week. Yankanah was honored for having the highest standing in Grade 11 Geography, Grade 10 English, Business Communications, Grade 10 History, Grade 10 Math, and Grade 10 Science. Brittain held top marks in Grade 9 Keyboarding, Grade 9 English, and Grade 9 Geography. Both students made the honour roll. Stoppers Clues Sought In Robbery of Courtice Store Crime Stoppers and Durham Regional Police arc asking for your assistance assistance in solving a robbery that occurred in Clarington on September 27th of this year. On Thursday evening around 10:40 p.m. a lone male entered the Checkers Variety Store located at 1561 Highway #2 in Courtice. Armed with a handgun he jumped the counter confronting the cashier, demanding cash from the register. At gunpoint the clerk was forced to lock the front door and then ordered to open the store safe. A quantity of lottery tickets and cigarettes were also grabbed by the suspect. The suspect ordered that the clerk leave the store with him. When the clerk refused this demand, the suspect relented, ordering the clerk not to leave the premises. He then fled the store with a quantity of cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets. The suspect is described as a tall, thin male wearing a dark blue hooded sweat shirt, green face mask and denim jeans. Crime Stoppers will pay cash for information that will lead to an arrest in this incident. Callers never have to give their name or testify in court and we do not use Call Display.
