On Tuesday evening, December 15, at Newcastle Public School, about forty seniors enjoyed turkey dinner and trimmings served by eight grade six students and their teacher Mr. Don Smith. Mr. Jack, grade five teacher, also assisted. During the day the six hundred school children had feasted on the turkey, potatoes, dressing, cole slaw, carrot sticks, cranberry cranberry sauce, pic and icecream. icecream. Many parents participated participated in the preparation of this meal. Alter the seniors seniors dined, Santa arrived with his bag of goodies. The Brownies entertained by singing Frosty, Rudolph, Jingle Bells and their own song, On My Honour. This is quite an undertaking for the staff and students and the principal, principal, Margaretc Cameron. We, thank all for the privilege privilege of enjoying this feast. .Remember the Christmas Day dinner at the Newcastle Community Hall. .Coffee Time Newcastle held a store celebration on Saturday, December 19. The Drive Thru there is now open. Radio Station 94,9 was in attendance for Newcastle News a couple of hours. Complimentary cake, balloons, balloons, coffee etc. were given out from noon until four o'clock. On December 6, 1998, Carole and Gary Brunton hosted an engagement dinner dinner in honour of daughter Jenny-Lyn and her fiance Michael. Jenny-Lyn's sister sister Aimec-Jo and husband Miles Pepper and sons Travis and Zachary, his parents, Bob and Norma Pepper attended. Jenny- Lyn's special friend, Catherine and Vern and Diana Rowe were also guests. Congratulations Jenny-Lyn and Michael! To Elma and Roy Hopkins and family, we extend sympathy in the death of her father, Herbert Allison of Picton. The funeral took place on Saturday, December 19th from Picton United Church. Lucky winner of the Scars December 19th draw at Hope's was Jo-Ann Jones. Her prize was a tool set and radiant heater. Congratulations also to Terry Plesovnig who won the Stedman's prize - a gift basket. St. George's News On the Fourth Sunday of Advent at St. George's Anglican Church, the flowers at the altar were given by Dick and Lynn Lovekin in memory of deceased family members. The Carols and Lessons Service on Sunday night was well attended by both St. Saviour's Orono and St. George's members. Anthems were sung by both Junior and Senior Choirs under the direction of Kathy Cureatz.
