Here's why Santa Claus keeps cornin' to town in Bowmanville. Not once in 37 years has Santa missed his stop in Bowmanville, That's because nine of his helpers won't let him disappoint the thousands of children there. This dedicated group of nine make up the committee that organizes the annual Santa Claus parade. In May, they start to organize the parade, canvassing for support from area businesses and lining up local service clubs and schools to participate. "Ours is one of the largest non-commercial Santa Claus parades in Canada," says committee member Sue St. John. "This year we attracted a record-breaking crowd of 15,000 children and parents!" Sue is the committee's assistant secretary while Valerie Gardiner serves as its Chair. Valerie McCormick looks after designing and creating costumes while Stacy and Greg Belanger take charge of the "Fillers and Floats." Sharon Smith, a 20-year veteran of the committee, takes care of funding, expenses and the bands, These six Santa helpers work for Royal Bank in the Oshawa and Clarington area. They're just some of many Royal Bank staff across Canada who take time out to help in their communities. And we'd just like to take this opportunity to thank them a Dr .
