The unknown culprit(s) had entered the vehicle by smashing the rear window. No suspects -- The glass in the front door of King's Milk at the southeast corner of Temperance and King Streets, Bowmanvillc, was smashed by unknown persons. The incident took place about 4:30 a.m., Tuesday. Monday, Jan. 5 Foiled attempt-- Police say an unknown person was attempting to steal a vehicle on Liberty St., South, Bowmanvillc, when the ignition switch broke. The vehicle was left behind when the culprit fled. Vehicle taken -- An unknown person stole a vehicle from Strathmanor Drive, Bowmanvillc, over night. Around 8:40 a.m, Monday, the operators of 'U and I Drycleaners' opened up their business to discover their shop had been hit sometime during the weekend. Inspector Smith says the drycleaners had closed on Saturday, Jan. 3 about 4 p.m. Taken from the drycleaners was a small amount of cash. The other business hit was 'Coles Men's Wear' which is located beside 'U and I Drycleaners.' It, too, had been broken into over the weekend. A small amount of cash was taken, along with some clothing. Inspector Smith says, "these incidents are under investigation by 16 Division detectives." When asked what local business owners could do to protect their investments, Inspector Smith noted, "alarms are helpful to some degree. It cuts down on the amount of time people are in there."
