On Friday, Jan. 23, their first opponent was the Barrie Flyers. The first two periods were scoreless. Finally, Clarington scored two goals to win the game 2-0. Excellent goaltcnding by Ralph Hamclinck Jr. and Brian Sellars, and great defensive play earned the team an extra point for a shutout. The second game of the day was against the Milton Wintcrhawks. Milton showed their strength in the first period, scoring three goals against the Toros one. Clarington came back in the third to score once, but couldn't muster enough strength to tie the game. The final score was 3-2. Saturday morning the Sudbury Sabrccats opened the scoring scoring early in the game. Clarington then tied it up at the end of the first period. The second and third periods were filled with fast, end-to-end play. However, the Toros could not get the puck past Sudbury's goalie. Sudbury scored two fast goals at the end of the second, giving them the game 3-1. Due to the extra point earned for a shutout in the first game, the Toros advanced to the semi-finals, again facing Sudbury. In the second period, Sudbury found an opening three times. Clarington made some good attempts to score, but could only come up with one goal at the end of the third. After losing 3-1, Clarington was informed that Sudbury has been undefeated all season. They were also undefeated in the tournament, winning the final. The Statesman Toros finished the regular season in first place. This earned them a bye in the opening round of the OMIIA playoffs.
