This one had good end-to-end action until the last second when Whitby kept digging to get the win, 6-5. Brendan Grigg had an exceptional night scoring all live Eagles goals, unassisted. unassisted. The Eagles competed in The Heritage Tournament at Hannon Park. The Eagles went up against the CYO Selects. The first period was a battle with both teams coming up with a pair of goals. The Eagles scored early in the second and a couple of minutes minutes later, CYO tied it up again. It wasn't long before the Eagles got another to take the lead. With seconds left, still in the second, Clarington scored again to take a 5-3 lead. No scoring in the third. Eagles goals scored by James Parks, Ryan l-lornby, Brendan Grigg and a couple for Christopher Konarowski. Assists went to Christopher Banks, Taylor Williamson, Ryan Hornby and Amber Ellis. Christopher Konarowski won the MVP for an awesome game. Game two was against the Whitby Wildcats. The Eagles came out fired up and ready to go. Early in the second, the Wildcats scored their only goal. It wasn't long before Amber Ellis, with help from Brendan Grigg, tied it up. Early in the third, Scott Tamblyn, assisted assisted by Amber Ellis, got one past the Wildcat goaltendcr to take the lead. The Eagles kept working and Amber Ellis, with a pass from Scott Tamblyn, slipped one past the Wildcat nctminder. Amber Ellis, who scored two of the Eagles goals and assisted on the other, was chosen MVP for a game well played. The Eagles earned the right to advance to the 'A' Finals against the tough OCHL. It was an exciting first period with no scoring until the 1:55 mark when Brendan Grigg, assisted by Gregory Konarowski and Taylor Williamson, put one in for the Eagles. Early in the second, OCHL tied it up, and a couple of minutes later, they took the lead. It wasn't long before Keegan Lawson, on a breakaway from Christopher Konarowski and Nathan Bracken, put one through the legs of the OCHL net- minder, to tie it up. A minute later, OCHL scored another one and they never looked back in a 6-2 victory and an "A" Championship. Keegan Lawson won the MVP for his hard work throughout the game. The Wolves finished 12th out of 16 teams in the tourney. Guelph beat Etobicoke in the finals. Grant's Physio Wins Orillia Tournament The second annual Orillia Sunshine Tournament proved to be a great morale builder for the Grant's Physio Midget girls' squad. Game one saw an early start at the Brian Orser Arena facing a tenacious Barrie Sharks team. It wasn't until midway through the second that a lone effort by sharpshooter Emily Muir put the Clarington Midgets on the score board for their only goal of the game. The struggle continued with Barrie posting two more goals before the buzzer sounded ending a disappointing disappointing opening game. Final score, 4-1 for Barrie. Game two pitted the Grant's Physio girls against the host team Orillia Blackhawks. Again the opposing team was first on the scoreboard just two minutes into the first period. Two minutes later a determined Lori McCluskcy potted a nice goal on an assist by Emily Muir and winger Andrea Griffin. Jessica Andrews took a high shot from just inside the bluclinc past a surprised Orillia goal- tender on an assist from Emily Muir. Less than three minutes later, Andrews repeated her prowess with the puck by bagging an identical goal on an assist from defencemen Lisa Marie Akcson. In the third period, Emily Muir put the icing on the cake with a goal on a assist from Erin Moore. Final score saw Clarington win handily, 5-1. The Clarington Midgets did not know what to expect from their Sunday morning rivals, the Coldwatcr Cougers. Four minutes into the first period, period, the combined efforts of Stacey Trotter and Danielle Allison, passing up to Emily Muir, led to the first goal of the game. Excellent defence by Lisa Maria Akcson, Melissa Scarlc, Stephanie Burritt, Krista Traynor, Stacey Trotter and Erin Moore helped a brilliant goaltending goaltending effort by Nicole Millson to shut out the Cougers completely. Scoring continued for the Grant's Physio Midgets in the second period by Michelle Walker on an assist from Krista Traynor and Andrea Griffin. Emily Muir was next up with a nice goal on an assist from Danielle Allison and Brandy Carrière.
